I was in Scottsdale this week and was trying to listen to Scottsdale PD. I use a Uniden BCD436HP and had first attempted to auto download by zip code. After reading forums I saw I needed to restrict it to just listening to the H Simulcast which I did. Still did not work right. I knew it should work because the streaming was working. I tried multiple attempts and ended up listening to it by programing the frequencies in H in a conventional group with no ID codes and is dominated by the county FD dispatch. After several attempts including creating P25 II and P25 with the control frequencies only still nothing. Any ideas why?

Scottsdale simulcast reception usually requires a base station yagi antenna precisely aimed at one of towers, or a Unication pager, which works most anywhere within range with no problems.

Or use an SDS-100 or SDS-200 scanner from Uniden, which are specifically designed to handle simulcast systems such as the RWC and TOPAZ RWC, unlike other scanners, including your BCD-436HP.

I’m trying to program my unication pager for SPD and for the life of me cannot get it to pick up spd. All the other agencies are fine when I put their site in. But no matter what site i program for spd it’s not picking spd up.

I guess if it doesn't work on my radio I don't feel as dumb.... I was able to listen to them by programing the frequencies in H and scanning them conventionally.
