I was monitoring the RWC on my GRE Psr-500 ( RS 800 antenna) connected to an ANKER speaker. Some of the comms had noticeable better clearer gain than others. Is this a known thing coming from the system or should I be concerned about my scanner? I was staying at the Hyatt House North Scottsdale. I’m from Vegas so this is a new observation for me. Also I’m using the same file I have saved from 2019 my last visit.

I live in Peoria, and listen to the West Valley rather than Scottsdale, but I've noticed some individual radios are louder than others, sometimes annoyingly so. With your GRE you're likely only listening to the Thompson Peak site? They don't handle the simulcasts very well. My PSR-500 won't decode the simulcasts at all, I use my Uniden SDS-100 for them. But the Thompson Peak site should be stable itself.

Some Scottsdale officers don’t speak loudly, either they mumble into their mics or if they’re mobile, key up on their mobiles and talk without even picking up their mic.

The gain difference is a known issue resulting from the programming of individual radios. It is a radio thing not a system thing. It is not your scanner.

All agencies have officers that do these types of things. It's certainly not unique to Scottsdale and no more prevalent in Scottsdale than anywhere else. It is not the cause of the problem the original poster is referencing.

Some dispatchers use cheap headsets.

Most officers wear ear piece, why the dispatcher doesn't have to speak loudly.
