I leave my scanner on 24/7 with the record function on. When the recordings get to 1,000 folders, it stops recording and shows an alert on the screen. Is there a way to clear out old recordings remotely, or have them automatically drop off, without having to remove them one at a time through the scanner software so this won't happen?

I monitor my scanner remotely using a remote desktop with the scanner attached to ProScan via WiFi.

Thank you for any help/suggestions you can offer!

While it was not requested, I added a "clear all recordings" function to the feature request list.

Would the MSM command work? That would give you access to browse the folders and delete the files from there.

Thank you for adding that request! I'm not familiar with the MSM command. Is that through ProScan? I can't find that feature.

You can send the 'MSM' command to the scanner via ProScan.
Click on the Test & Extras tab of the main screen.
Look at the far right & you'll see this:

In the Protocol Command box, enter "MSM,xxxx" (without the quotes, of course) and click the Send button. The 'xxxx' represents the time that you want to keep the scanner in MSM (Mass Storage Mode), in milliseconds. So 'MSM,0300' would be 300 milliseconds, or 5 minutes. If you have the scanner connected to the PC for logging in ProScan, you can use the command to flip it into Mass Storage Mode, so that you can either access records, write a database or Favorites list update to the scanner, read the scanner into Sentinel (to match changes made on the scanner with with is in Sentinel), or download a Discovery session results. After the specified time, the scanner resumes normal scanning and in serial mode.

Could you please also investigate the possibility to select a FIFO mode? When it now says that it has reached 1000 folders or that the SD card is full and have stopped recording, it would instead say "Deleting old recordings" and delete the oldest folder.

Thank you so much! I think the problem I was having is my scanner is connected through WiFi. I'll change it out to a USB cable when I get home.

@jtwalker - I do, but I use the scanner's internal recording as a backup in case I lose the WiFI signal. It's rare, but it has happened.

MSM is denominated in seconds, not milliseconds. 300 milliseconds is 0.3 seconds, not 5 minutes.
