Hello MN folks! For those of you that are using SDR to feed into the Calls platform, wondering what specific hardware you’re using? I just recently started researching more into SDR and would like to get a system up and running to help fill the void for missing talkgroups around my area.
  • What specific SDR dongle?
  • What all software are you utilizing?
  • Windows or Linux?
  • Anything else I may be missing

thanks!

Nooelec RTL-SDR v5 (3 of them to cover 7 Mhz )

SDRTrunk

Debian Linux

In addition to feeding Broadcastify Calls, Broadcastify audio feed, and OpenMhz, also run a local copy of Rdio scanner as my local front end

One Airspy per tower (recording 3 towers)
Trunk Recorder
Linux

I don't feed to calls but easily could with my setup. I use Rdio-Scanner for the front end for personal use which does basically what calls does.

Airspy R2 for VHF/UHF Airspy HF+ Discovery for HF.
SDRplay RSP1B when I must due to software.
Cheap RTL-SDR dongles unused in a drawer where they have been for years,

If you want, I'd be happy to store them here with me :)

Unfortuanately I want to keep them to occasionally loan out locally an Airspyy or SDRplay with one of them for comparison and also to show them when I sometimes talk to ham clubs.

NooElec RTL-SDR v5 x2 using the same NooElec RaTLsnake M6 Antenna
Unitunker since 2009 (I tried SDRtrunk, but struggled with it but i think that was mostly the computer i was running it on)
Windows bootcamped onto an iMac, and I have an older HP Elitebook for mobile
I am using the NooElec RaTLsnake M6 Antenna and it is hands down the best antenna that i have ever used both stationary and mobile. I have a splitter that feeds both of my SDRs from the same antenna.

Finally figured out the issue was with the tower I was connecting to. I connected to another nearby antenna that was using simulcast and it’s working great now. I actually also bought that same RaTLsnake M6 Antenna and it’s awesome! I do have some connectivity issues with SDRTrunk connecting to Broadcastify and OpenMhz, but will have to start a different thread for those.

Thanks all for your input!
