I realize some scanners are not capable of transmitting Alpha Tags, but was wondering if all the newer SDR's had the capability since I am not that familiar with the SDR specs.

To add to the above, an SDR cannot transmit.
Oh come on, you know those are SDR-based transceivers. Normally when someone compares a scanner and an SDR, or mentions an SDR by itself, it is a fair bet they are talking receivers, not transceivers.Oh really, hmmm...

Thanks that fully answered my question, sorry if original post was unclear. As @dave3825 mentioned, the SDR isn't responsible or able to send them on their own, but the software you are using with them may be able to.
No idea why you mentioned scanners then. Glad you have your answer though.I specifically asked about transmitting alpha tags and if sdr's had the capability.
So when you say transmit, you mean to a streaming provider like Broadcastify, not RF. Some scanners, like the SDS200, can deliver the alpha tag data over its Ethernet port using software like RadioFeed or ProScan. SDRtrunk is an example of software that can do the same with an SDR.I mentioned scanners because of the new Beta WebPlayer. I understood older scanners may not have the capability to send alpha tags, but not being familiar with SDR all that much, I was wondering why some feeds that I knew were SDR were showing tags and others were not. So now I know that the software makes all the difference.
The ability to see the alpha tags with the Beta WebPlayer is a HUGH improvement when watching feeds in areas with multiple jurisdictions especially if you are not familiar with the area.
Again thanks to all for getting me straight on this matter.
