SDR Trunk - no audio

Hey all-
I'm sorry if I'm completely overlooking something, but I've literally spent a couple of hours on this and can't find a solution...
I don't know why I can't figure this out...but I can get no audio from SDRtrunk with my tuner. SDRSharp works fine; I'm not even as far as trying to listen to DMR or anything of the sort. Even the NOAA band that I can pick up no problem with SDRsharp, is being picked up in SDRtrunk (according to the graphs) and I'm locked on to the exact frequency, but no audio. The test tones play in the preferences, but absolutely nothing else. The terminal outputs the following two lines when playing the NOAA station I have saved in the playlist:

2023-04-14 15:18:18.404 WARN i.g.d.d.m.ComplexMixerFactory - Unrecognized complex mixer implementation: UNCALIBRATED [112MB/336MB 33%]
2023-04-14 15:18:18.405 WARN i.g.d.d.f.FmDemodulatorFactory - Unrecognized optimal operation for Squelching FM demodulator: UNCALIBRATED [112MB/336MB 33%]

I came across one other thread where someone brought this up and the response was "Run calibration and restart the application", but I don't even know where the option/action to calibrate is and haven't found and instructions online on how to calibrate

Anyway, any help is greatly appreciated and sorry if I'm being completely dense and missing something obvious

Windows 11
SDRtrunk v0.5.3 and v0.6.0 alpha
Nooelec RTL-SDR v5

@mciupa Thank you for the link; I watched his videos earlier and was still running into the issue; but I will probably end up going back once the issue is figured out

@PDXh0b0 Thanks for the suggestion; i did go back and cleared/re-built the library, but still no dice....however your video went through something that others either glassed over, or just completely missed (or maybe I did in my frustrations) which were the CPU calibrations. That's what was missing. Let that run and restarted; the audio test with my local NOAA radio is working now (!)

Thank you both for taking it easy on someone new to the entire scene. Hoping to make this a somewhat inexpensive and enjoyable hobby :)

Can anyone tell me why Sdrtrunk locks on to every call, not just the ones i have listed in the Aliases set to record. You would expect it to ignore the talk groups i have no interest in, rather then tying itself up on it and ignoring other calls ?

The top pane shows all activity that's broadcast over the control channel regardless of what's in your alias list.

Is it playing audio or recording tg's you do not have set to record? If it is, you have something set up wrong.

Go to your Alias list, set talkgroups you aren't interested in to mute. Slide "Listen" slider off & click save. If a talkgroup isn't set to record it'll still be monitored. "Listen" and "Record" are two separate functions, the latter generates audio files to the folder you specify in User Preferences

Thanks for the reply,
I understand the system is monitoring the control channel constantly and showing the activity.

The problem I have is it'll lock onto a voice frequency/talkgroup that I have no interest in & then it will display 'tuner unavailable' for a talkgroup I do want to record because it is out of range of the SDR.

Once the earlier talkgroup is done it'll then shift the tuner to record the talkgroup that was out of scope,
But means I'm missing some/half of the calls.

I can see this happen on the waterfall, a unknown talkgroup will be on a lower voice frequency to the control channel, it'll lock onto this even though I have it set to mute and not record.
And then a talkgroup I wish to record will be on a voice frequency higher then the control channel but the program won't shift the SDR range until the unknown talkgroup has finished it's transmission.

hopefully that explains it.!

Tuner unavailable generally means the dongle/s do not have enough coverage for the span of the freqs on the site your monitoring. Can you post a link to the site your monitoring and specify how many and what brand dongle you have?

I think that's his point - If sdrtrunk wouldn't stop on frequency 123 to decode "Janitors Closet", it would be more likely able to switch to frequency 345 to decode "Fire Disaster", which is what he really wants. This is a long known issue with sdrtrunk, that it still ties up a tuner and other system resources to decode groups that are not set to Listen/Record.

Do you have a link to where that is documented?

I think this is the primary request but there are a couple others that are essentially the same. There may even be earlier ones, but this is the one that I found and consider the main one:

Honestly, I do not think that issue is what @astro_boy is experiencing. He is getting "Tuner Unavailable. If his dongle is good for 2.4mhz, and the freqs on the system span 2.5 mhz or higher, that will yield a tuner unavailable message.

SDRs are capable of sourcing many radio channels simultaneously, limited only by the bandwidth (ie sample rate) of the SDR and the supported frequency range(s). sdrtrunk manages SDRs as a pooled set of resources. When the application allocates new radio traffic channels, it simply iterates through the set of SDRs until it finds an SDR that is capable of tuning the requested channel frequency.

The issue you linked may use more system resources, but I don't see how it would create tuner unavailable.

@astro_boy Could you provide the lowest freq and the highest freq on the site in question along with what dongle you are using? And what sample rate is the dongle set for in Sdrtrunk?

Isn't it exactly what he stated?

"The problem I have is it'll lock onto a voice frequency/talkgroup that I have no interest in & then it will display 'tuner unavailable' for a talkgroup I do want to record because it is out of range of the SDR."

Yes, all the frequencies you listen to have to be in the bandwidth (and bandwidth setting in radio menu) to listen. If you start a new play item outside that range it say Failed to Start. You should group your channels that are near each other in playlists so it’s easy to swap them around when your listening tastes change. Alternatively you can plus in more dongles to add capability, until you run out of processing power.

I’d check the bandwidth of your radio setting and make sure it’s wide enough versus it’s capability. It’s easy to narrow a 10g wide Airspy to 2.4g unintentionally.

Additionally look at your playlist talkgfoups and mute the ones you don’t want. You can use shift-multiple select or Ctl-A to grab many at a time.

On the audio issue if the JBE is correct there is a test button on the setup.

Good luck! I agree it’s frustrating…

I've been banging my head on the wall trying to get this to work😂. I've literally done everything that is listed and still have no damn audio output . Windows 11, 2 SDR rtls 1 V3 and 1 nooelec v5 I know how to use everything , I've decoded other stuff but this damn SDR trunk is being extremely difficult lol. Imported from RR and I feel like there's some glitches in the SDR trunk software. Like when I create a channel - alias list , the channels won't appear in the alias list. I'm going to try re calibrating computer and then if no dice, I'm un installing and re installing sdr trunk. If that doesn't work I may take it behind the shed and give the old yeller treatment 😂. Only reason I need this dang sdr trunk is my town recently switched to P25 trunked and I can't hear em anymore. Cripes.

Have you opened up the windows volume mixer to make sure the slider is up and sdrtrunk is not muted?

Are you hitting the save button after?

yup! i just re installed , recalibrated , update library wasn't needed. i am literally clicking save and going into alias list I just created to test and no channels are saving there LOL other issues ,I cant hear anything other than NOAA. anytime i click play on a RR imported channel
I'm getting this kind of error

i forgot to mention , both of my sdr's are working fine in sdr# and sdr consolev3. the trunking has been the bane of my radio existence lol I can't get dsd+ to work either. decoded pocsag/flex , school busses ,weather sats and some other stuff but this damn trunking is killing my fun. i have read a lot of people have issues with windows 11 and it was a puzzle getting the decoding audio routed for pocsag and sats but I did it and wrote a map out so I didn't forget! thanks for anyone who helps, I've been using sdrs for about 4 years but lately have been trying to check off more accomplishments with it.
oh my antenna is a wide band tram discone on topon my chimney with low loss rg 8 if I recall. i also have a nooelec LNA could the LNA be causing issue?
