I am monitoring a 900 Mhz DMR business system. Multiple companies use this system. the tower is VERY high on a VERY high hill 8 miles north west of me. The control signal is VERY strong. So when I start Sdrtrunk the control channel is "Idle" and sometimes briefly turns to "fade"....I looked below under messages and see "sync loss bits processed [288]. After a while it seems to stabilize and control channel indicator turns yellow. Using SDR-RTL dongle. Antenna is 8 element 800mhz yagi. I have tuner set at 196 under GAIN, LNA is 112 and VGA is 210. Never messed with VGA or LNA. I tried different gain settings but usually leave it set below half way point since signal is so strong. Running Sdrtrunk in MX Linux. Computer is HP Z210 with SSD and 24GB ram. I run Sdrtrunk with waterfall turned OFF since its a cpu drain and not really needed just to listen. I dont understand why since I am receiving a very strong control channel why there would be a decoding problem. After about 10 minutes things stabilize and runs fine with occasional "Idle" coming on then going back to "control". I wonder if dongle needs to "warm up" first? I also monitor an 800 mhz P25 simulcast system with 3 zones and dont have this issue.
