Hi,

I have just read about the free open source software package
for the MAC called SDR++.

Apparently it is downloadable from GitHub.
Over the years, I have had nothing but problems in trying to download and use most anything directly from GitHub.
Will blame it on my old age now, as I imagine most folks have no problem.

So, have several questions that I have regarding getting started with, but perhaps would be better to start personal correspondence
if someone could lead me thru the steps to download SDR++ ?

Or, would it be best to simply post, and ask for help, directly here ?

Is there a Forum or UserGroup for SDR++ anywhere ?

and, is anyone already using SDR++ ?
If so, thoughts on ?

Best regards, and thanks,
Bob

SDR++ looked good to me also but I have run into problems. I downloaded the zip file for Windows and extracted it to a folder, tried to start it using the SDRPP.exe file and a console window popped up and closed immediately, eventually I found the reason, I have an older version of OpenGl on my Win 10 PC --

For a time I would click the green "Code" button and download the zip file. It's a mistake of many.

So if you go to the github
SDR++ releases

Do whatever the mac equivalent of a windows mouse right click & select "save link as" on sdrpp_macos_amd64.pkg

Does it download?

If so, extract it(how ever that is done on a mac 🤔) and run the SDRPP.exe

This software is very impressive in its early stages. I discovered it yesterday and have been running it on 2 Windows 10 machines with excellent results. I think its weak point is audio at this point; it sounds like it needs some filtering. To "fix" this I'm running the audio out to Virtual Audio Cable, which is feeding DSD+ and KGTone. KGTone actually seems to handle the unfiltered audio very nicely and produces the best analog audio for me at this point. It is also easy to add multiple VFO's and pipe their audio to different places. It has a basic but pretty good frequency manager as well.

I'm hoping some support for the IC-R8600 might be added and I've inquired at Github about that. Currently I'm using it with an Airspy R2 and an Airspy Mini.

Hello all,

In my 80's now, and not too sharp with this "stuff" anymore, frankly.
But, would sure love to run SDR++ on my MAC

Have never been comfortable using items from GitHub, so have a basic question or two.

Reading the description. from the author, and others, there are apparently quite a few "modules" and
other items that are missing. The author said it would be fixed, but I don't think it has happened yet.

So, "if" it is usable now, Exactly what do I have to download to get it to work ? From where ?
(probably a bunch of items ?)

Step by step instructions would truly be helpful and appreciated.

Thanks for help; much appreciated,
Bob
