it will not scan, just stays on one department.
it just started not scanning recently.
The display updates at a rate of about 4 times a second. The scanners scan rate are 40ch/s and if you have only 10 conventional frequencies programmed in one department it might not show that it is actually scanning as it will be a shorter time on that department than what the display update time are. When the squelch is set to 0 the scan rate goes down to 4ch/s and then you'll see on the display that it is scanning that conventional department.
But if this started recently then it's probably a new transmitter close to you that are interfering. The squelch should stay open at both a setting of 0 and 1 and if is closed at 1 indicates some sort of interference of its receiver. Take the antenna off and see if SQ 0 and 1 behaves the same and at 2 it starts to scan at a higher speed. You might have to enable some more conventional systems into scan to be able to see how it scans.
If you are interfered you could begin testing by changing the filters settings. If you have your departments filters set to Global then go to the menu in the scanner and Settings/Global Auto Filter and try to change between Normal-Invert-Wide Normal-Wide Invert and test between each change if SQ 1 and 0 are the same but 2 are different when you monitor with the antenna attached.
If one filter setting seems to help then change to that for the department instead of Global and set the Settings filter back to what it was, probably Normal.
