Can we possibly see a size comparison photo, such as the SDS100 next to a BCD436HP or a TRX-1, if anyone has such resources? Thanks!

Opening Display! I almost forgot as I asked this very early into the beta and it was already implimented.

Save the following or any custom 240x320 .bmp as "opening" in the root of the X36HP folder of the SDS100.

I just purchased one of these and it stung but just a little bit...…….

Now I have a few questions:

1. Does the role of the antenna remain unchanged with this type of radio? As in, will the after markets still be better than the wick? Looks pretty good out of the box, its hard to imagine that a antenna will make much of anything better.

2. What would the rules be for listening while the scanner is plugged in? For example, with my PSR-800, when I'm not on the go I have it plugged in (and on, of course) and hardly never unplug it unless I'm taking it with me somewhere. Would that be ok for the battery and everything with this radio?

1. I would expect the RH77CA to do better than the stock ducky on most bands, but only testing will determine whether this is actually the case.

2. Lithium batteries last longer with shallower discharge cycles than full ones. So occasional handheld use and "topping off" when convenient will not shorten battery life. If anything, it will increase it over constant full discharge. The charger turns off when the battery reaches full charge, so leaving the scanner plugged in for long periods will not fry the battery.

Thanks, Jon. I just want to be mindful of some things because this is now, kind of a new ball game. Don't want to step on my own feet with it. I've never messed with anything SDR so definitely going to be new.

153 posts and yet no mention of how it’s actually performing on any trunked LSM system. No comparison videos. How about some of you Uniden fan boys put one up against a G4 or G5 with its little stubby antenna and let me know how it goes. Or put it up against an APX. I want to see how it actually performs, not hear about missing screws and the fact that you can splash water on it.

Yeah! I so totally agree with you! I hope I am wrong... But I am super skeptical until I hear it in my hands.

There's been a number of posted youtube videos on it's performance. Start there. Might be a little while before someone with a G5 gets their SDS-100 in the mail...

How about you do your own research instead of coming in here and demanding someone put together comparisons for you. We already know your biased by your attitude but that's normal for G4/G5 fanboys. :p

When I get mine , which I hope will be very soon, I will do just that. I have a trunked system here in NJ that my 436 and HP2 have a great deal of trouble with. The system is the Morris County Phase 1 system, and I’m hopeful I will finally be able to listen and hear everything.
