SDS100 just died

Need ideas on how to troubleshoot. My SDS100 low battery indication came on. I swapped out with a new battery and nothing. Plugged the power cord in to the scanner and nothing. It will not turn on. I removed the SD card and reinstalled. Nothing. Whole scanner has taken a dump. When the charge cable is connected the red charge light comes on but still doesnt power up. Any ideas on what I should try and do next.

I would try a different memory card.

Like Kevin says, if you read about similar failures, it is resolved by using a new SD card 98% of the time.

Is your 'new' battery fully charged?

I agree with @KevinC and if you don't have another card try formatting and then preparing it in Sentinel and resending your profile. Like @doctordialtone said, always try a new card when there's weird stuff happening. The first thing the scanner tries doing is reading the card so if it's corrupt it could hang.

Both batteries are charged.

It very well might be your problem as others have said.

think of it as a computer that gets radio.
the BIOS is how it wakes up.

I have tried another SD card with no results. Unit still will not power on.

Yep. Tried with and without the battery. Plugged into USB port on computer, plugged into AC adapter. Nothing. The battery charges when plugged in and goes from red to green when fully charged, but just will not power on. Different SD card doesnt work either.

Wonder if one of the solder points on the J401 connection could fail & cause it to hang.

And the real icing on the cake is the warranty expired a week ago. Guess I will have to do some sweet talking to the Uniden folks.

I would definitely recommend @jonwienke if you end up needing J401 work, but at this point I'm not sure if that could cause the SDS100 to not even turn on. Hopefully someone else can chime in.

UPDATE- Just got the scanner back from Uniden. They replaced the control board.

I have a SDS100 that died almost to the day 1 year after I received it. I ordered it 11/21/19, got it delivered somewhere around 11/27/19. It died on me 11/25/20. The scanner only has a 1 year warranty. Will be curious to see how Uniden handles this concerning a warranty claim.
