Hi all, just got my SDS100 and i've noticed that my local PD (Freehold NJ BOROUGH) receives late or not at all. they are on the conventional CT114.8 @ 501mhz. How do i tweek to either set delay or make it a priority. In Sentinel, i cant change these values IF im looking in the right place. Can anyone help me out with these settings??

The easiest thing to do is not scan a ton of channels. The more the unit has to scan, the more you will miss.

The 501.1375 frequency is not licensed for Freehold Borough to use, verified through fcc.gov database. Most law enforcement is on the Monmouth County Public Safety trunked system and it is all encrypted which no scanner can receive. I don't see any listing for Freehold Borough PD on the NJICS statewide trunked system either.

Not sure if you are talking about the slight delay heard when the SDS models are compared to non-software defined scanners listening on the same frequency/channel. But if it is, it’s nothing that needs correcting because it’s supposed to do that. This is something that’s caused by the way a software defined receiver works and is considered normal.

It's kinda neat when you have your conventional and SDS scanners on the same frequency at the same time--- about 1/10 of a second delay creates a slight echo or reverb effect. My friends ask, "Why does it do that?" and I nonchalantly answer that its caused by the signals being bounced off the satellites. WOW, are they impressed !!!

The frequency and CTCSS are then ok, or you should not receive them at all. For conventional, if you have it in a favorite list, have a priority setting in Sentinel for that channel, it's the last thing on that line, P-CH, or go in the scanners menu and edit FL/System/Department and channel. To start the priority function you push Function button and then the dot/No button one or several times until it says DND On.

OK so i changed out antennas. I had the Remtronix 800mhz on the radio. Believe it or not i switched to an antenna i had on an old radioshack Trunked radio and that seems to pick up transmission now. My question now is am i losing any simulcast on the sds100. Seems to be fine. Any thoughts???

No but good to know, thank you.

OK so i changed out antennas. I had the Remtronix 800mhz on the radio. Does that antenna not perform well on lower bands (Remtronix High Performance Antenna)?? I bought Believe it or not i switched to an antenna i had on an old radioshack Trunked radio and that seems to pick up transmission now. My question now is am i losing any simulcast on the sds100. Seems to be fine now. I compared it to the TRX-.

Does anyone know why the Remtronix REM-820S doesn't work well on the SDS100 with lower bands like FM 501mhz???
The REM-820S worked for me on my area's 450 to 465MHz systems, but not as well on the still active Vhf-high channels used by certain local systems.

I picked up the Remtronix REM-842S antenna for use on my SDS100.

Better Vhf & Uhf reception, without losing my 700 & 800MHz systems of interest.

I tol use the Remtronix 800 MHz antenna on my SDS100. It should play well at the 700-900 MHz freqs. But it’s only cut to resonate on those UUHF frequencies. It is not the optimum antenna for VHF and UHF. That’s not to say it won’t hear the VHF and UHF stuff, if it strong enough it will work. I know because that’s what I do. My local stuff is strong enough where I don’t need a gain antenna. Using the Remtronix gives me the ability to hear my statewide state police system in Ct. and hear all the other local stuff. I don’t like the aftermarket multi-band gain antennas for the handhelds because they are so big. Using what I know works without going overboard allows me to carry my handheld without poking anyone in the eye.
