I am wondering about the MicroUSB port, could be remapped like the MiniUSB port via updates?
Just curious about this matter. Also, why do you not sell internal parts (i.e. Volume Encoder)?
I found where you buy them easily. I am not buying 1000+ just to have 1.
What a monopoly you have on making more money for your greedy hands!

“Greedy Hands?” I think it is called an overall business model. And, of course, they are the only company in the world that sources quantity lots to keep product costs down to their customers and cannot justify the expense to sell most of those parts one-off to their customers or their product prices would rise. That is called overhead when you start factoring what else they would need. I guess you have never worked for a major manufacturer and had to consider more than what an extra little part would cost to add on to a circuit board AND make that part available to 250,000 potential customer IF you were going to catalog it for customer purchase and figure out where to store it. And no, it cannot go with the normal inventory that is usually under tight regulations for various certifications. And I am just getting started… 🙄

That "Business model" also restricts authorized sellers from charging less than what Uniden says they can sell them for.
"Greedy hands" isn't too far off

I don't know how it applies to parts, but Uniden has stated that they do not set prices for retail sellers.

Yes sir, they sure do. For "Authorized sellers" they can not sell a new SDS unit below a certain price, without going against Uniden's policies.

I have seen "Floor models" and so forth advertised cheaper. I presume this is acceptable...

This was UPMan's reply to a similar post a while back:

Uniden exercises no control over what dealers sell the scanners for. We set a price to our distributors, and express what we think the street retail price will be, but they are free to sell for any price they want. With limited exceptions, we actually don't even sell to retailers/dealers...we sell to distributors who then resell to dealers.

That's a ridiculous statement in MY opinion. I presume the "you" in your statement refers to Uniden.

They aren't a parts dealer, they are a repair company that charges extremely reasonable flat rates to fix out of warranty radios, pretty much no matter what's wrong with them.

Sounds like you made a great discovery for getting spare parts. Perhaps you can share with others where folks are able to get the parts they may be looking for. I'm sure there are many other folks here looking for parts for their radios. Thanks.

Here is the part number from the manufacturer, not Uniden. TOCOS TP70N00AE20 - Encoder. A Japanese part is installed by people in Veitnam.

So, what's that have to do with Uniden being greedy? Do you think Ford (or any other auto manufacturer) should sell you tires for what the mfgr pays for tires?
