I've just received an SDS100 and updated it to the latest firmware. I've followed the instructions for setting up a Favourite List and tried to assign a Quick Key:

1) Save a new favourite
2) Menu -> Manage Favourites -> Open Favourite -> Set FL Quick Key -> Choose a number e.g. 2

However, when I exit the scan mode and attempt to access it, e.g. Press "2" and then "E", nothing happens. The 'Quick Key Navigation' screen just stays on, it's as if the key isn't assigned.

Another bonus question is if there is any way to pre-fill the Zip Service (or save a location) such that when I turn the scanner on I can quickly set it to a location and scan the database for that region e.g. I could set a 'Home' and 'Work' location to a key.

Pretty sure you need to enable the list so it can be monitored. From Marks Scanners Easy Read Easier to Read SDS100/200 Digital Scanner Manual

Set Scan Selection
Press Menu then scroll to Set Scan Selection and press E/yes.
Scroll to the options below and press E/yes.
Select Lists to Monitor This setting enables or disables your Favorites Lists, Search with Scan, and the Database for scanning. You must first enable each list here, before you can enable the quick key for the list or you will see 'Nothing to Scan' in the display. Note: You will also need to set a location to enable the Full Database.
Scroll to each Favorites List, the Full Database, or Search with Scan and press E/yes to enable or disable.
For Search with Scan, see also Search with Scan and Edit Custom Search.

Thank you, that's helpful. I set the full database to off, and then enabled the two favourites. I checked their quick keys were assigned correctly and now it is working as expected.

Minor tip, I had one favourite that was for aircraft but the service list was set to aircraft 'off' giving a 'nothing to scan' warning.

Do you happen to have any insight on my second question? Is it possible to set locations and load them easily? I note I can save a location but I can't figure a way to load it.

Nope - no way to have two locations loaded. In essence, that would be two profiles. You could create fav lists for the 2 locations or even multiple lists and assign them appropriate quick keys.

Sorry, I didn't mean to have two locations loaded at the same time. It would be the ability to change the 'Full Database' location quickly e.g. I could set a Home location and when I load it, the database is loaded to that location. Ditto if I had a 'Work' location, when loaded, it would load that location in the database.

Thanks!

Canadian zip/postal code is alphanumeric, however which makes them a little trickier to enter. I guess I'll need to get good at spinning the volume wheel :D

Before you Write to Scanner with Sentinel, go to the Profile Editor and Scan Selection tab. Download and Monitor must both be set to On for the favorites lists. Download sends the favorites list to the scanner. Monitor enables it to scan. You will not need to go into the scanner menu to enable it.
