Is there anyway to change the length of time an Alert Light remains on? Seems like the light only stays on a few seconds, but then turns off, even with traffic continuing on a channel . . .

A lot of people brought this up a few years ago...
We were told by "UPMan" at the time that making the alert light stay on for the duration of the transmission would be a patent violation...
In other words, Uniden would have to pay for the rights to do that...

Maybe Uniden are waiting for some patents to expire and then incorporates them in their next scanner and that's why it will take some time until it is ready to be released? I know that when Motorola held the patent for flip phones and it expired most other brands released flip phones. After a couple of years everyone switched to the iphone type of touch display that covered the whole front.

Usually in the mobile phone and radio industry patents are licensed out so that anyone can use it if they pay. It's usually more economical to the patent holder. I guess Uniden and Whistler refuse to let anyone else use their patents, until they expire.
