SDS100/SDS200: SDS200 Encryption Muting Issue

I didn't have this issue on my SDS200 until I updated to Waterfall version 1.23.07, sub 1.03.05. (I don't remember my previous version). My local PD is a digital P25 that sometimes uses encryption and sometimes not. When encryption is being used, I now receive a short annoying burst of audio (maybe 1/10 of a second long) before the encryption muting takes over. None of my other settings changed. I also have an SDS100 that I have not upgraded and I am not experiencing this issue. Is anyone else having this occur or is there anything that can stop it from happening?

My SDS200 doesn't do it, but my Homepatrol 2 does. I think Uniden is working on a update to correct that.

I'd actually wish mine did that. My SDS 200s will sometimes mute not encrypted traffic and I see the TG with no audio. Still waiting on the firmware update to fix that, and it started with the waterfall firmware update.

I would love to see the encrypted mute an user selectable option. Muted would be the default. Many systems are a combination of encrypted/unencrypted or total encryption. Having the ability to select the unmute option would allow for logging the encrypted TG as well as the associated RIDS.

For those who have not really observed the encrypt mute in operation. If the scanner sees an encrypted transmission usually it will not even go to the talk frequency but rather it will act as if the transmission does not exist. This can also occur on searching frequencies or frequency ranges. Therefore identifying active encrypted TG is hard or identifying active conventional frequencies that are encrypted often results in not detecting the activity.

My HP2 does not avoid/skip encrypted transmissions, it stops, and you hear the noise. The TG has to be manually avoided for it not to stop scanning.

If you have it stored, sure, if not, doubtful you can really do it in time

Mine will catch the the first second or two of the encryption, before it mutes. I thought there was a update to fix this, but maybe I was mistaken.

Well, I wondered why! I don't usually listen to the FEED scanner but I did tonight and noticed it didn't have the issue. My personal wide area SDS 200 had the issue from the waterfall update. Hmmm anyway, I decided to format the SD card in the one scanner and behold it works so much better now. May have just been a coincidence with the firmware update to the waterfall and and SD card having an issue. SD card came to mind also because the SD card in my Note 20 Ultra 5G went bad tonight. lol
