Got my new SDS200 this afternoon. I'm sure its just that I'm not very smart, but I can't find anywhere in the manual that tells how to bring up the ESN
Any help?
Thanks

Press the menu (squelch) button then use the scroll dial to highlight settings then press scroll dial selecting settings and scroll to See Scanner Information then press scroll again then scroll to firmware version then press scroll again the last line is the serial number .. the last 4 being the unit number then the dash and the next 3 is the checksum for the installed firmware file which you normally would not need.

To exit keep pressing squelch in about 5 presses.

You can find your ESN in the menu under Settings > See Scanner Information > Firmware Version as the SN value. For example:

38426088123456-1AB

Also, if you are using this number to purchase the upgrades, when it asks you for your serial number, you’ll see that while the SN is 14 characters (excluding the 3 character checksum after the - symbol) you can only enter 12 characters.

The way you enter this in is by replacing the 260 at the 4th position with the letter Z. So for example, if your SN (without the - and checksum at the end) is:

38426088123456

You would enter:

384Z88123456

This wasn’t documented on my.uniden.com and the only way I figured this out was by looking at a previous registration I had done (and forgotten about this trick)

Your ESN when registering on my.uniden.com will actually be the SN value minus the checksum. For example:

38426088123456

And then the checksum will be the last three digits at the end of the SN from the scanner. With the example above, that would be:

1AB

Hopefully this was t too repetitive in explanation but it’s confusing so I figured more explanation is better than less.

Enjoy your SDS200 and upgrades!

You don't have to remember a trick to get your serial number, the Serial Number - S/N (with the "Z" in it) is printed on the tag on the back of the scanner.
