Hello. I’m a former 9 year user of the Home Patrol 1, and most of the Chesterfield/Richmond/Henrico Virginia Police/Fire/EMS disappeared; I was told it was because of trunking and a few other new inventions, so I purchased a SDS200 that arrived 2 days ago. I’m a ‘old school’ retired paramedic and was told that the 200 can do it all. Unfortunately, I can’t, apparently; I followed the YouTube vid about setting it up under conventionally to see if I could do it, and did- please forgive my ignorance, but can anyone direct me to a ‘how too’ link on both understanding the trunking and other new acronyms to learn so I can listen in my area? Thank you! —Doc Lykins

Expect some frustration learning your new SDS200. It comes with a learning curve that even catches those well versed in scanners. The added effort will be worth it once you gain familiarity. This forum is full of expertise so keep plugging along.

Since your new, suggest you use zip code and 10 miles distance to start. Select your services. Once your hearing everything ok, get sentinel installed if you prefer favorites to scan. Don’t select everything for services as this will slow down scanning. Make sure both analog and digital is active.
