So as the title states, the replay feature, what is its intended purpose? I mean I get what its name implies, but it doesn't always work. Something about you can't listen while its recording or active. Then what's the purpose? I want to push that button as the feature describes, when I miss a transmission and I want to hear it replayed!

Also, the time settings. What does that mean exactly? It will hold X amount of seconds of audio and that's it or each transmission can be X amount of seconds? The manual is not very clear about this at all. I've watched so many videos and read so many threads that I don't remember where I read it but somewhere it stated you can have hundreds of hours of recordings on the SD card. Once I had 11 recorded but I think they are temporary or get deleted when I reboot the scanner or something cause I couldn't find them again, not on the scanner or browsing the SD card.

I have mine set to 180sec and 99.9% of the time when I push that button it tells me nothing is recorded. I'm sitting right in front of the thing, I know I'm hearing transmissions, so why aren't they being recorded?

Thanks for your help!

It's not the time for recordings, as you might expect. It's a free running timer that can go back in time and replay, if there have been any conversations. If the scanner have been silent for 180 sec there will be nothing in the replay buffer to play back.

I recommend to set it to the max value, 240 sec, and when you replay you just turn the dial to jump between the different recordings. If you want to permanently save any of those recordings you can start the recorder, Fn+Replay, and then stop it again, Fn+Replay, and it will ask if you want to save the recordings. You have to be quick about it as the timer are always running and it will delete anything that are older than 240 sec from the current clock time.

Replay: When you want to hear what just got said, right now. As in "what did they just say?"

Record: When you want to hear everything that has been said, at some future time. As in "what was said on the scanner when I had to step away for a couple of hours."

Thank You, Ubbe!
Exactly how I needed to hear this explained! That made a whole lot more sense than the manual! Now I have a clearer understanding of this feature!

In all honesty, I thought they were using the term loosely, as in record and replay were the same thing. I understand now that I can record all day and listen when I get home and replay is for when I am actually listening and want to hear them repeat what was just said. Thank you for helping me understand this! I appreciate it greatly!

Me too...I was getting frustrated with this part of the radio (and pretty much only this part) as I was trying to discover how active the Federal law enforcement channels were in use here and it was never consistently recording. Apparently it was "replaying" just fine (up to 240 seconds old and no more) but I never understood "record" was different. Now I do! Sweet...great community for help!!
