Last time I tried to remove my SD card it barely came out of the slot and I had to grab it with some forceps.....

Months later and putting in a new SD card it just seems like the SD Card Reader is loose and moving back into the scanner.....

Anyone ever open and look at the SD Card Reader? Is it soldered or mounted?

Suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Not sure the reader is removable and believe its soldered to the board. Does the scanner boot up fine? My card has been out 1 time. Then always used cable. Now only use @ProScan FTP read/write feature.
Scanner still works fine but it's only a time before a problem arises.

My SD card is over 5 years ago and I wanted to replace it....

I wish I could find a tear-down video but I've taken apart much worse things......most were not mine :)

I'm just going to wait until my SDS100 shows up and gets running......

The SD Card reader is spring loaded. push in with a fingernail or gently with a pen tip and it should pop out enough to grab it, but as mentioned using a Usb cable is much simpler and safer.

That's the problem....think the spring mechanism is having a problem.....

Using a usb cable???? For What?

I popped the card out once or twice and used in a card reader. Then used supplied cable with laptop for a while. Now only use Proscan ftp. No wear on sd card socket or micro usb port.

My manual says USB A is for "future" so I didn't think about it.....

ARE YOU Saying I could just use an SD Card Reader in USB A vs the SD slot???? (please say yes!)

The USB A port on the SDS200 will not read or write to an SD card. The SDS200 will only boot with the SD card in the Micro SD slot.... or I use an extension cable for the SD card slot to avoid wear/damage on the slot:

You can program and or apply firmware updates using the supplied usb cable and the micro usb port on the front of the 200.
Yes I've been doing that.....we were talking about the SD Card Reader problem that I have and you mentioned cable and I was hoping you may have been talking about using some kind of SD card reader in USB A instead of using the USB Card Slot.....

I think it’s been covered before, but for the future if you find yourself swapping cards often, you may save some wear and tear on the MicroSD card slot and could use something like a extension cable like this on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Cablecc-Micro-SD-Memory-Extension-Extender/dp/B08SW7ZCDM.
Awesome....didn't know there was such a device.....too bad it's not MicroSD to MicroSD.....but since they have the MicroSD to Tf....they probably do!

And when I take the SD Card out I will try a SD Card reader in USB A and see it will read it!

So.....has someone tried? They ought to make it usable for something!

Micro SD to Micro SD Card Extension Cable

Or get @ProScan and never mess with the card again.

That port is usable as a usb port to supply power. I have ran my 436 off that port in the past and have charged cell phone but mostly use this now.

One plug into LAN port, the other into USB A. With that, I can monitor and program my 200 wirelessly using Proscan. Can also control and record audio on the scanner too.

Micro usb on front can be used for programming.
Micro usb on the back will work with the band scope software that someone on Facebook created.

It has been discussed many times... Uniden stated from the first release of the SDS200 ...... "Auxiliary USB Type A jack for future expansion".

From this post: Introducing the SDS200

The A port does supply 5v power that some of us use to power a wireless LAN bridge, but there is no data transfer available through that port. That has not changed since the SDS200 release.

Ok, let us know if your SDS200 is different, and the USB A port will read the SD card.

Damn.....being out of the IT industry and not building stuff makes you miss a lot of cool devices!

So are you saying I can plug this into the LAN port and use the SD card to run the SDS200?.....that's awesome.... I did order THIS until I come up with a permanent solution.

That SD adapter will come in handy and I may even use one in my DMR Hotspot so I can mount it in a case out of sight.....

I've also had Proscan for years and run my SDS200 via Lan throughout the house.

I've also used the FTP but I'm lazy and pulling out a SD card is easier and faster (IMHO) but I do appreciate you reminding me I do have another option.

I appreciate all of you help Dave.....you are always there when we need you! :)

Well at least USB A does something!!

And I will try the SD adapter in USB A after I get the External USB SD card reader!

Thanks to everyone for your help!
