The OM states "You can program your scanner to alert you when a Channel or Unit ID is received, you receive
a Close Call hit, an ID is transmitted with an Emergency Alert..."

Could someone clarify (or offer an opinion on) the "emergency alert" part of this? Maybe I am misinterpreting what it's saying or missing it all together, both in the menus and Proscan.

P25 systems have a feature called "Emergency Alert" which allows a user to press a button on their radio, sending an alert to dispatch via a device called the RCM (Radio Control Manager). It's designed to be discreet and the officer can activate it one-handed and doesn't have to key the mic. If the officer does key the mic, it shows up on the display of every radio on the talkgroup. That also then marks that talkgroup as priority in the system.

I think you're referring to Channel Alert when a certain UID (Radio ID) is in use? The scanner emits a tone (choice of 15) when the radio ID(s) you want to pay close attention to are keying up? It's only available on Trunking Systems, and UID's (Radio ID's) have to be programmed in the system. This doesn't work for late entry to the system (If the scanner is listening to another system, and it comes on the system with the Radio ID's are already in use).
