I was curious as to what the second USB port (The one above the one marked charge) is used for?

I found this post here on radio reference, but it was from six years ago.

I might have missed something newer but I don’t believe anything has changed. Maybe Uniden’s time frame was pushed back by the Covid Pandemic but so far Uniden hasn’t made public any future intention regarding its use. I can only imagine they have something in mind. Maybe our new (official or unofficial) Uniden contact, I believe he calls himself Joe Bearcat?, might forward on to Uniden the question?

Some of the expanded feature ideas were lost with Paul Opitz. Some were documented or determined and some of those have been implemented, such as the waterfall feature. It's still possible some features may be added, but the short version is that the extra ports are for 'possible future use'. Some have used the USB-A slot on the SDS200 to power related accessories but I am sure that was not the original intent.

At one point I had both a SDS100 and the 436 and I was able to use my uniden GPS for both at the same time by splitting the connection. I found somewhere here that in using the GPS for both the SDS would not get enough juice. To remedy that I was told to use the other as a secondary charge port. Worked great.

How did you split the GPS signal? I’ve wanted to try that with my SDS100 and 325P2 but wasn’t sure it would work

As long as devices only read you can have as many as you like connected to the same single transmit device. Connect the ground together of several scanners GPS connectors and connect their RX signal pins together that then goes to the TX pin of the single GPS.

I bought an adapter to split the DB-9 off the converter then connect the appropriate cable to the scanner. Since the 100 is powered by the GPS, this is why I think the other cable was necessary for power.
