while listening to analog-SEPTA PD/JBAND (502.6875NFM)
i hear VIPER 1 calling to radio,

now i know the TSA covers the NE Corridor with what are called VIPR teams
TSA: VIPR Teams Enhance Security at Major Local Transportation Facilities

im wondering if this was a local team,,

Also,,Radio came back and used the term- CODE GREEN on your PedStop.

then followed to mention -Times Three- and proceeded to list scofflaw violations
and such,,

ive not heard this before, the call-VIPER1,,or the term-CODEGREEN..SEPTA has no
viper callsigns,,as far as i can read anyway..

heh, I wonder who they caught? some fella/female that didn't want to go through the scanners? perhaps someone who didn't want to get felt up by a TSA gate tender?

did you hear anything else?

no,,i didnt catch much else,

it was a male, and sounded like ped stop,,
and there was other traffic with other units,,

the call was not in the airport, but was in center city,,

times like this i wish septa was trunked,,would be nice to be able
to see the user/talkgroup info..

Re: 'J-Band Comms'

I heard some dispatches that were obviously directed to the SEPTA police. Others, appeared to be traditional Philly police calls.

If I'm correct, what is the purpose of these transmissions over UHF, rather than on the PPD trunked system?

Viper teams & Uhf retransmission of J band on SEPTA PD

1) Viper are 2 persons anti crime teams viper 1 is in zone 1, viper 2 zone 2 etc.
They can go from zone to zone based on crime stats that are high assigned daily etc.
2) J band is transmitted on septa pd because septa has zones in philly ,they can respond to some calls.
Philly can talk to septa direct. SEPTA pd have j band radio in some cars if they are turned on.
