Okay so to set up a relay you need the ip & port + relay pass & mount point

So i wan't my domain name to be set up in place of my ip which points to my ip so basically it works the same
if you type in 96.36.82.87 or emergencyservicescommunity.com it sends you to my website so you should be able to use either one for the <server> - my - ip - </server> & then the port will point it to the audio server

To my understanding thats how a relay works, What i have been told is that the domain has to point directly to the audio server which is not possible ( unless its forwarded which means its not pointing to your ip at all )

What im being told is that the domain can only be used if it points to 96.36.82.87:8000 ( the audio server ) which would mean the domain isn't really pointing to it its forwarded ( heres the example domain that was provided by RR admin w2lie.no-ip.org Note: this is definitely forwarded ). Which semis wired to me as i have had a relay set to my ip which is the same as my domain !?!?!?

Please understand this is not trying to go over any ones head or make any on look bad. I would just like to here other thoughts on this as i truly believe it should work & that is how i would really to my server.
So if any other admins or members have any thoughts on weather this should or shouldn't ( it should work lol ) work please tell me as it will be a learning experience

Thanks!

Rich, can you help here so it may benefit others in the future? I think a lot of what you help via email would be beneficial to the community and could prevent future questions on the same subjects. Just a thought

Each situation is unique so helping via e-mail is best to avoid 85 responses from others that are not really helping.

Also, in these cases, I would be dealing with private feed info like IP addresses, etc that the world does not need to know so via e-mail is best to keep that info & the feed providers info private.

a domain name is the same thing as the ip only with words so you should be able to set it up with the domain name in the same spot as the ip would go & it will work is what im saying.... the relay code would be the same but where the ip goes you put the domain name

If that helps any
