Now that my "RX-II" is working well, I have three questions.
1 - Is there a complete list of valid P25RX commands available?
2 - What is the difference between "factory" and "factory 1" resets?
3 - What are the functions of the "H" and "S" buttons at the bottom of most screens?
Thanks in advance!

1) I will get this done soon, but there is no comprehensive list of commands yet
2) factory resets most configuration settings back to defaults. 'factory 1' resets to defaults and erases flash memory including talk groups, etc.
3) 'H' talk group hold toggle on/off, 'S' skip talk group for xx seconds (timeout is defined on the Button CFG tab, followed by <write config>).

I am trying to sort out priority values for TGs on rxii. Is 1 highest priority or a larger number?

The higher the number (up to 9), the higher the priority. I use a combination of zones and priorities to track over 3,200 TGID's with 3 radios. The 2 radios I actively listen to have the highest priority TGID's in a zone for that purpose and that zone is active on both radios to increase the likelihood of hearing something on those high priority TG's. Also, I don't use the highest priority (9) unless there's something happening of unusual interest. In that case, I update the affected TGID's to a priority of 9 and change the zone on those to an empty zone.

my question was about understanding priority values. I was just adding zeros since higher the better(10+) and it didn’t seem to work. 1-9 is the key. Thanks.

@btt Todd, is 9 levels the limit???

On my p25rx, I have been using priority interrupt levels 5 to 30 with no issues. It works great with 30 being the highest for me.

It is solid now. So cool! TG editor page has a write talk groups and a write config button. I was just writing config which didn't save the changes. Do we need both buttons on that page?

With the current firmware, the <Write Talk Groups> button writes the table to the flash area for talk groups. The other options at the bottom are for general configuration. The <Write Config> saves those options. I'm currently re-thinking everything about configuration. I will probably get rid of the <write talkgroups> and <write config> completely. I'm heading toward having all of the configuration stored on the PC in image files. The receiver will broadcast its current flash crcs with the display information. When the java software sees that the local image files differ from the receivers image files, it will ask if you want to write the changes to flash. This way, when the software starts, there will be no need to read configuration, talk groups, or anything. The only time needed for configuration transfers is when the PC and receiver are not "in sync". I"m working toward that now, but it will take a few days to get there. I can't wait to show you guys the improvements.

OK I have a question too. I've been thinking , will it ever be possible to use this unit "standalone", without a computer or display connected to it. For instance, have all your settings on who you want to monitor before you shut it down, and then upon the next power up ( with a battery, antenna and speaker connected ) , the unit starts monitoring the control channel or whatever you chose. Wouldn't that be great?

Powered via USB, the user has a variety of listening alternatives thanks to the integrated USB, audio out, and Bluetooth devices. The P25RX-II can be a totally portable P25 listening solution when used with a portable USB supply and speaker / headphones.

I did try it and all I see is the red led flashing on the front every 3 seconds or so.

When you are running the experimental software, then you have to select the control channel record that you want it to power-up with and select the "Use On Power Up" option on the general tab of the Channel Configuration. Press <apply changes>, then press <Sync Channel Config To Receiver>. After that, it should power up monitoring that channel. The receiver is stand-alone.

Thanks Todd. I did try that the first day I had the unit, but I'm sure I did something wrong. I'll give it another shot!
Thanks!

Yes, it works with nothing connected... I've done it often. P25RX-II unit sitting on my workbench in the garage, using a Bluetooth speaker on the shelf above it... works great!

But don't they have some kind of interface that the unit needs for commands? I saw some with displays ect.. Could it work with nothing connected? If so, I'd love to have a link or something that shows me what settings ect...
