I just checked, and the Omaha Sun link is working fine!

I monitor ORIN traffic with Unitrunker, and got some new talkgroups today. The channel utilization was the highest I have ever seen.

Did you hear us getting dispatched to take calls for OPD this afternoon during the
Westroads Mall incident?

I was sent to assist with a protection order removal near 93th & Western then diverted
to the apartments at 4800 Underwood Avenue on a disturbance. I've gone a few blocks
into South Omaha before on backup calls, but never that far north until today.

As a matter of fact, I didn't think to listen to Sarpy until about 1500. The radio I listen to sarpy I also use for monitoring the ORIN CC. I guess I better get a 4 way splitter and program another maxtrac.

I heard a couple of Bellevue cars going in service, and champing at the bit to "go north".

Anyways, by the time I thought about it, District 751 had probably already gone home.

A sad, sad day indeed. I am sure that over the next few days there will be some anecdotes
of close calls at the Westroads.

Mine was that my wife and mother were on the 3rd floor of VonMaurs yesterday afternoon.
That was too close for me!

As insensitive as it may be...

I have to ask the questions and bare some issues...

1) I knew that the CIC was going to be here and I planned to bring my scanner to work...I didn't...

2) I missed two of the biggest events in Omaha Scanning history...

3) I am in a strange funk and am feeling things for the families of the victims, and, due to the folks I know at work...strangely...others who have connections to the perpetrator...

4) I have a strange hobby.

I'm wondering...is it wrong of me to ask if anyone saw anything strange in the ORION or the Sarpy County system when all this happened?

And...even if I'm wrong for asking...did anyone see anything that should be posted to the database?

Strange...first strange thing is I actually noticed that the DB lists ORIN as "ORION"...i'm an amateur stargazer...don't like that system being listed as "ORION"...second...ahem...

Again, i'm not trying to be insensitive...just...

I work with folks intimately close to that thing...

Wondering if any new TGs showed up or anyone saw any new associations or what have you...trying to get back in the swing of things using our wonderful hobby...you have to find comfort where you can...

Or, at least, I have to find....errr...Too Much Information...
