My oldest is an RCA 16S400, 10-channel, 4-band crystal-controlled scanner circa 1975. It still works GREAT but it is showing its age in some aspects. I can hear the analog PL tones as a hum coming through the speaker along with the audio (especially the higher PL tones above 200 Hz) which is common for scanners of that era. It also doesn't do well with co-channel interference from new channel frequencies that have been added with narrow banding. Considering it is 40+ years old it is a VERY solid performer with great sensitivity and 2 full watts of audio volume. It sold new for approximately $200 back in 1975 plus you had to buy the crystals which were typically $5 each.
My two newest are a Radio Shack PRO-668 that has been officially upgraded to a WS1080 and a Whistler TRX-2. I've been running them side-by-side with Radio Shack 800 MHz antennas on both (as seen in the picture).
