While in Las Vegas this week I have been sporadically monitoring this system. Any ideas for the location and specific user? TG's sound like an Air Force Base. NAC is 00F.

I think the info I posted is a new separate TRS for Nellis AFB; all the TG's are aircraft and runways related radio traffic. It is not related to the NNSA TRS.

NNSA's new Site 10 info is:
408.3875C
410.1750

This is part of the initiative that added a similar 9 site system to Fallon NAS earlier this year. It is a common trunking platform for all mil air assets so they can communicate both on carriers and at land based facilities. Since Nellis supports Navy aircraft during training, the site was included for upgrade.

Fallon's site is brand new, and replaces their hodge-podge of VHF (except for some contractors).

This is covered in my NDA, so I can't really say anymore other than what has been published in various sources.

If in fact this is part of a new thing??? I don't know??? I'd suggest any new info on this should be kept off the RRDB. Perhaps the change was made due to public awareness of the system??? Anything posted might prompt a new change again??? I'm sure the local listeners will pm each other on the findings if there are any??? I surely hope somebody fills me in soon.

Wait and see??

Site 2 is at Creech and is using the previous nnsa freqs.

The two control channels I heard at Creech were 407.075 and 406.3625.

Use the freqs above and set the tsys as p25 auto like in this youtube video
‪How To Program the PRO-106 Digital Trunking Scanner‬‏ - YouTube

Thanks! I was able to get it and I'm picking up TG 339 & 305 in the clear, 59 is encrypted, etc... So I'm getting traffic.

I live in the deep southwest, and if I use a rubber duck on the 106 I get nothing... using my 900mhz beam on a 30' tower that points northeast, I can get it full blast, pegging the signal meter.

So I used the re-banding table I use with NNSA, should I have programmed like this, or just let it use defaults?

Forgot to add, has anyone started to compile a talkgroup list?

Also, what is the name of this system?

Thanks!

Don't put too much faith in the locations of those repeaters on that website. As I've DFed them and posted corrections, that list has changed. So I assume the list was just a wild guess by someone rather than good research.

Some of the locations were easy to ID. For instance, if you do that loop around Mt. Charleston, run a scanner with the antenna removed. It will eventually lock on the fed system. You can drive to the Tonopah site. I DFd the Ragged Ridge location.

Some of the repeater sites are a bit harder to DF. All I have is a custom built antenna for the fed band and a stepped attenuator. I have no idea how the other people claim to find locations. A few of the repeaters are so deep that echos make them hard to DF with certainty.

This link will bring up a NTS map that has all the old Moto sites on it:
www.lazygranch.com/google_earth/nts_map_overlay.kmz

I have line of site analysis for the range as well, so I know where to monitor for various locations. This is like trying to snoop on the Rhode Island from surrounding states! You do have to be scientific about this.

Coming in late, but just thought I'd post this here:

Using the P25 WACN/SID decoder, 58544-00F translates to a "callsign" of NELJI9. The first three letters are pretty telling.

Any WACN that is not BEE00 or similar (or something like "00001") will probably yield similarly interesting results. For example, plug in the WACN for one of the National Capital Region systems - "580A0" - and let's say the "unidentified" system's sysid, "0D1".

Michigan's MPSCS (92493-796) uses its actual callsign..

Very handy tool when trying to figure out an "unknown" system.

The Nellis system is very different from the new Navy 380Mhz systems. First, it is in the 400Mhz band. Second, it is considerable larger than most of those Navy sites. Nellis has had a regional system prior to joining the NTS (NNSA/N2S2) system. They joined the NTS system at a time when the Clinton administration made colocated facilities share radio resources.

If you troll fbo.gov, there is a command/control request from Nellis to enhance this system. Also the bid for the new Nellis system gear was on fbo.gov. Details of the system weren't revealed, but the basics were there.

I was out by the range in November, but the unitrunker wouldn't fire up. I assume the Groom Lake EDACS system is still running.

The Nellis range is a mighty busy 400Mhz zone. Some channels are used on more than one system.

I would expect a few more Nellis sites to show up on the range itself. The contractors on Fox 4 frequency were talking about "digital fox 4", which I think was the old shared system. I didn't have the NTS/Nellis system fully working at the time.

If anyone wants it, I can did up the bid request for the Nellis radios. They have AES encryption. I don't recall any other details.
