I am about to (hopefully) get my technicians license and will probably get the Yaesu FT-7800R.

I have researched some diff antenna's for dual band (2 meters and 70 centimeters) for mobile use. I want to mount it on the hood's lip on the drivers side, symmetrical to the AM/FM radio antenna.

The question is, what do you guys use and do you like it or not, why or why not.

Thanks

I bought me a MFJ mag mount and I am not very happy with it...it works but I would have rather gotten one with a higher gain.

As pointed out by mfuller, Larsen is a good brand. I know the NMO 2/70B has a good reputation. I know I like it quite well. Everyone has their favorites of course, so I'm sure you will get a lot of recommendations. The 7800R seems a good choice too - I know it has a real good reputation. Good luck!

Ok thanks for the input guys and the link. I read the reviews on radios from that site but did not check out the antennas.
