I will be visiting Florida next month and I'm programming my scanner. I see SLERS has two different systems listed and am wondering if I still need to program both or has one been pretty much replaced. I do have EDACS Provoice capability.

Almost everything is ENC. What are trying to monitor and what area? I believe almost all activity is still on the older EDACS/ProVoice system.

FHP as well as nearly all state agencies on the system are ENC.

This depends completely on WHERE in Florida you are heading..... with the notable exception of a few counties in the panhandle near Eglin AFB, the vast majority of the EDACS SLERS system is encrypted (Walton and Oklaloosa County are exceptions to the encryption rule) --- as a side note, I was just in those two counties a few weeks ago and can confirm 100% that they ARE on the EDACS SLERS system and indeed unencypted - and the talkgroup listings on RR seem to be accurate.

As noted above, FHP is 100% encrypted on the EDACS SLERS system.

The only thing unencrypted I have ever heard on the P25 SLERS system are radio test counts. The sites of the P25 SLERS that I have run DSD+ on .... have maybe 10 keyups on the site over 7 days. They are 99.9% unutilized in my area (Orlando Air for example). Perhaps some of the other SLERS P25 sites that I cannot hear (Miami area for instance) are more active. I have my own opinions about the P25 SLERS sites that may not match reality - I personally think those sites were put in as a precursor to the now cancelled statewide Motorola P25 Phase 2 buildout of SLERS. (there are articles on Motorola losing the state contract to Harris a few years ago here on RR and google) - but no need to go down that rabbit hole in this thread). I suspect the build-out of the new Harris P25 Phase 2 SLERS system will begin in 2023 - and I do expect much more state/local interoperability once that system is installed. There are very VERY few pure analog public safety trunking systems (of any flavor - EDACS/SmartNet/Smartzone) left online... Volusia (Daytona) and Brevard (Space Coast) are still using analog EDACS - Volusia is building out their P25 system now and Brevard is probably 3 years or so away.

If you are heading to the Orlando area - the Orange and Osceola County Fire Departments are in the clear. LE is 99% encrypted in both of those counties. Just about all of the interior comms at the theme parts are 100% encrypted.

The SLERS system is ProVoice digital. There should be no analog TG's on the system.

There absolutely is still an analog TG on the system, however it is VERY rarely used.

Sounds like a relic IOP analog TG from the early days of the system being implemented. From it's inception SLERS was ProVoice digital. No agency on that system should be using an analog TG.

You won’t hear anything on NE towards the south at all only thing you pick up is the deaf and blind school bus. Now if you go towards Walton and okaloosa county you’ll hear fire ems and Taylor & Franklin FR is slers also.

North Okaloosa county.
I wanted to add a bit about the analog SLERS talkgroups. For reasons I am unsure as I was merely a minion back in 2009 when this was occurring, 4 analog talkgroups were placed on the south and north fire system repeated on scene TAC's along with Okaloosa, South Walton and Walton conventional simplex analog TACs. So if listening in my area, you may at times hear some analog on the licensed talkgroups here in Okaloosa.
