• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Just curious as to what flash is in your XTS5000.

100001-000000-7 <------Could this be the flash that's in your radio?

If you were unfortunate to get one of the 123ABC... conventional only radios, then Smartnet won't work without a flash upgrade and if it is a 123ABC... then Motorola won't touch it with a ten-foot pole.

Good luck.

Well, that flashcode decodes to the following:

Q806/G806 IMBE / APCO-25 Digital Operation
H14/G114 Digital ID Display
H38/G51 Smartzone Operation
Q173/G173 Smartzone OmniLink Operation

Smartzone is part of this radio, so you don't need to ADD Smartnet. You do need to do as suggested and contact the system admin and have them add you to the system.

There is no other legal way.

Smartzone trumps Smartnet.

If a radio does Smartnet, then it will do Conventional.

If a radio does Smartzone, then it will do Smartnet and conventional too.

123ABC1234 doesn't necessarily mean that it's a "hot" or "hacked" radio. I've gotten radios back from a Motorola authorized repair center with 123ABC1234 and it just means that the board that holds the serial number was replaced and not properly re-programmed with the serial number. Sent it to Motorola and they fixed the problem.

I never said that it was stolen or hacked. Heck I even have a VHF 123ABC1234 here.

What I was getting at is that most, if not all of the 800 MHz units with that serial number had an "IMBE/Conventional only" flashcode, i.e., no trunking.

The only way to flash the XTS5000 is to have Motorola do it and they will refuse to update this radio with that serial number. Plus he'd be forced to affiliate anyway and most system admins would not put a 123ABC1234 radio on their network.

It's all irrelavent anyway as he doesn't have one of those radios.

XTS3000 is another issue and is easily overcome.
