Up as the title says I picked up a new trunking scanner. Haven't had a new one since my Pro-94 and that was about 7 years ago. I have using commercial radios to monitor the local edacs systems and I will continue to do so, Just wanted something so I can search for new talk groups...I picked up a pro 106 yesterday just to return it today and exchange it with a pro-197... I wasn't really happy with the audio on the 106 not loud enough for my taste

Both scanner work quite well in your neck of the woods. I have two 197's and a 106. As another poster said, there is audio boost, though I've never had to use it. Both scanners decode NYSEG p25 very nicely. You might have gotten a bad 106.

Shadcall-Yes I was able to get it for the sale price which made me very happy!

Snorkel-I used the audio boost feature didn't really make a difference, I've been spoiled by the audio of commercial radios that I own.

N2MWE-That may be true I may have gotten a bad 106, but the audio on the 197 seems pretty good, nice and loud. I currently have NYCOMCO's Walker system programed in it and I say I do like the fact that the radio ID's are displayed, I really just wanted something for the shack so I could be able to scan for new talkgroups if they arise, can't do that on a 300P or any commercial radio LOL.
