• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

So, is the BKR9000 really vapourware?

Will we ever see the BKR9000 actually released?

I am back to hunting down all-band portable options for my Fire Dept as we look at what we need to upgrade and I was asked if I'd ever demo'd the BKR9000 since it was in the original upgrade plan two years ago as a possible solution.

It seems like it entered a black hole it will never exit.

They had some personnel changes in the company and redesigned the radio and last I heard were shooting for a Summer 2022 release. They have been showing off the new dummy prototypes. Hoping it works out this time, competition is good for everyone!

BK was behind when they brought out the first KNG. Dual or ALL band was needed back then. They know they are behind the curve so they are trying their hardest to make this ALL BAND the BEST out there PERIOD.

I hope they nail it with the product.
I love to see competition, and I'm sure they know they are in it with the best of them. Competition is good for everyone, except those that get hung up on brand names...

Hopefully is not the same garbage as the KNG line.

Given their current delivery times, we will probably see the 9000 shortly before its EOLd. To be fair, Moto's delivery times are ludicrous also.

I ordered some Harris XL-200's earlier this month. I'm afraid to ask what the delivery ETA was.

I also ordered a new Toughbook, 2 months…..

I bought a CF20 from Bob Johnson computers. Great price and I received it in about 2 weeks. For programming, especially in equipment it works GREAT!!

I needed to go new. Buying used computers doesn't work well where I am employed.
But I've got a POS Dell that I ended up with about 11 years ago that ~sort of~ works for what I need right now. Just needed something new for RPM and that will stand up to some more abuse.

Good evening group,

Has anyone noticed the new BKR9000 image on the BK Technologies website? It definitely appears there have been some design changes since the BKR5000 was released. The speaker grille has been reduced and the screen made taller/more slender; it seems like a smaller form factor all around, relative the BKR5000. Maybe it's actually coming Q4 of this year?!

They are revising the BKR5000 boards. I hope it’s close to the same size. The BKR5000 is pretty giant though
