can somedody please suggest the best "user friendly software" to get this new scanner programed. I have been an analog uniden user for 20 years. My city has upgraded. I am totaly lost. I don't know if I find it here by joining a paid RR subscription or just get lucky in my web search, which for some has led me right back here. anything would be appreciated, mike

Object Oriented Software is listed here.

Give each trial version a shot, and see which one you find to be "best".

I don't think there is one software that's better then the other, all of them offer things alike and then some things that are specific to that company. I think mostly its personal preference, I use win500 they have a trial version that will allow you to try it out. Coming into the gre world from uniden will be overwhelming, I suggest you have someone from your area send you their win500 file so you can open it in win500 and see how's its configured it will make more sense that way, just my 2 cents..

As a longtime scanner listener, and listener of the 396T operation -- I found the PSREdit500 easiest to use and learn with.

I use it with my PRO197 How different Uniden and GRE object oriented programing can be. But, not impossible to learn and adapt to.
