Last two days somebody has been screwing around on the HAmden PD, New HAven PD and the USAI interop channel. A male and a female making noises and talking.

The PD's are not Happy

I heard this nonsense. The male sounded similar to someone that was screwing around on Milford FD and DPW a few weeks ago. I think the same person was on DPW again in the last 2 days. If it's the same person/people, then they're dual-band since Milford FD and DPW are VHF.

is the malicious radio interference team still around? I believe Marcus communications was involved with them at one time. Years ago there were folks doing the same thing on some of the Hartford area stuff.
I believe radios can be "fingerprinted" to match up different patterns in a signal and it can lead to positive ID of an offender's radio.

That is a sore subject for me!

As someone who worked in secure facilities dealing with inmates where a radio was our only lifeline at times, this is a sore point for me. Oh how I would love a good ol fashion fox hunt type of search to catch these idiots! OOOH! There is nothing that ticks me off more than blatant disregard for public safety personnel!

yup heard someone ask if anyone "was on this frequency" last night on the scan channel then about 2 or 3 in the morning heard them on Hamden pd's channel. Hamdens dispatcher got on the air with the cars and let them know this was going on. After that, I passed out and wasn't really listening that much afterward. I was listening to nhpd doing something today as well as the fire we had in West Haven so I really wasn't scanning. Last night was definately a guy and when he was on hamdens freq, he was also playing with the DTMF keys because I heard the tones. I just read in one of the forums here the other day about some girl getting busted in another state for pulling this crap and taunting the cops to find her. Give it time, whoever it is will get caught. Either because they locate their point of origin for the signal or because they get an invincible feeling and start blabbing about it to their friends and someone gives them up. I just hope nobody out there winds up getting hurt in the mean time. Oh and not to sound like an A-hole as I'm definately into scanning myself - With the amount of rogue radios out there, this goes to show another reason why departments wind up going encrypted, which combined with people who just plain shouldn't have radios or scanners - will wind up being the fall of our great hobby.

Actually I heard something similar on the 440 amateur band the other day similar to this while talking on the Milford repeater. Hopefully they find the idiot!

I forgot about that. I think they were on the 443.550 or 147.225 repeaters when I heard them messing around on Milford FD and DPW. I didn't hear them myself so I'm not sure which one they were on.

I though I heard them on 441.700 while talking going to work yesterday afternoon.

So apparently they are using ham radios to cut into those PD's traffic? I hope those idiots are caught before they mess up a responding call that could mean life or death.

not sure if you guys caught it or not, but while everyone was working the crash up on rt 15 by exit 62 the moron was at it again on hamdens channel. had it locked open for awhile. I'm not sure if it's a ham radio tho, although the other night whoever it was, was playing with a dtmf pad today after locking the channel open, i heard what pretty much sounded like a time out timer like motorola has (not sure if any other brands have it too) but then the channel opened up again for traffic. needsless to say after a few minutes the idiot locked the channel open again but i could hear units trying to reach dispatch even tho the repeater was locked open. then the tot sounded again and poof, the fool was gone. didnt catch any key ups or anything on anyone elses freqs tho. it really would have sucked if a unit needed help. later on ther was a shhot over on butler st and i was worried this idiot was gonna start up again and wind up getting someone hurt. didnt happen so thats something to be happy about. doesnt the fcc or the state or someone have an ice cream truck or something with gear to track this fool down? wth

Doesn't HAVE to be ham radios, could be FPP commercial gear, although they would have to have 2 radios....They could also have a Yaesu FTH-2070 and software....or way too much money on their hands and have a VHF/UHF APX7000 and software.

Joey, I didn't hear that but I know Hamden did have a problem yesterday with the console at dispatch. Not the same thing correct?

No wasn't the interference guy. Hamden had a open mic on the console.
