I live in southeast Iowa. For the most part my SDS200 is working great. Recently we had an emergency situation where everyone went to IA TAC2 but I was unable to hear anything, I only live a quarter mile from the action, but yet, no can hear! Any idea why? I also have lots of problems with receiving Burlington Police which are about 23 miles away. I'm a newby so please don't get to technical lol.

Most of the time, operation on those “tac” channels is with handheld radios and no repeater. And if they are inside a building the range is even less. Are you using just the telescopic antenna? Maybe an external antenna would help. As for the Burl PD, are you not getting the signal or is it not decoding it? I am in Burl so get it fine.

IA TAC2 is on ISICS. If your department was using it, then their radios would have affiliated with the site(s) near them, no matter if they were mobile or portable.
For what it is worth, was able to follow along since someone in this area had their radio(s) on Muscatine/N. Scott site [1-14] monitoring IA TAC2. Of course, did not note it on Clinton site [2-122].

Depends on if he really meant IA TAC2 or just TAC2. I live in his area and when the local fire and rescue say "go to tac2" it's just a simplex channel for the handhelds to talk to each other.

For what it is worth, I'm about the same distance from Burlington as you are and I can't hear BFD at all. Des Moines County fire departments I can hear fine, but Burlington itself is deaf.

TAC 2 if it Statewide TAC 2 is heard everywhere i Iowa, However Region 5 TAC 2 is only heard in Region 5.

IA TAC 2 is provisioned to only be heard on towers if a radio is turned to that talkgroup on said tower. IA CALL is would be heard on all towers regardless of radio affiliation.
