The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have a shoulder Speaker/Mic for my Motorola HT1250. It doesn't work properly.

The speaker part works. When press the transmitt button, it beeps in the speaker like it should, but it doesn't transmit my voice.

Is this an easy repair? Anyone fix these?

Buy a new one. They are cheap enough.

It could be a number of problems, bad mic element, loose connection, broken pins. It is hard to tell.

yeah we don't even repair them at our shop. by the time you buy a new cord and pay the bench fee you spend as much or more than just getting a new one.

I agree. You can get a knockoff for around $15+ or OEM for around $50.

Just get a new one and don't fool with it.

I got a brand new public safety mic for the waris series for $20 on eBay. The guy didn't have it listed correctly so I took it. If you look, you can find deals and be better off.

The described problem may be caused by the channel being set for receive only. It's not normal for an analog HT, which the 1250 is, to make any noise in the speaker when the PTT is pressed.

Is it a long continuous tone while the PTT is pressed or a short beep that ends after a second? Does the radio transmit from the on-board PTT or do you experience the same issue?
