I have a Uniden SDS 100 and is great. I was reading some old posts on Global Auto Filter and Site Nac operations. Well I went into settings and turned filters off and Site Nac to ignore and I can't believe how it scanned thru the systems and full database so much faster. In scanning faster it also picks up more channels in the scan. It seemed to take forever just the Fleet Net for the OPP, but now it zips thru them and picks up more transmissions?? Like a New scanner.

I'm going to try this out on the SDS 200. The scanning is unbelievably slow. It actually misses things because of it and it's not anything I've got set as a delay etc. I have the bare minimum in the list to scan and it doesn't help so it's down to something like this or the hardware just not being able to scan efficiently and in need of a firmware patch.

I hope it works for you the way it works for me. I was the same way, wondering why it was so slow at scanning until I shut those down and now I’m picking up way more calls and I’m getting stuff I wasn’t getting before because the speed of scanning has increased. I get twice as many OPP call’s and other local channels.

How do you go about doing this

Turn off the all filters and go to site nac operation and set it to ignore That’s all I did and results were impressive.

From Uniden's release notes on using global filters:

Note: If Auto is selected, conventional scan and search speed will be greatly slowed, as every frequency on which a signal is not detected on first pass will be rescanned using the inverted HPF setting.

Hey guys just want to clarify a few things here. These are slow scanners to start with. They were slowed down with a firmware update in the beginning, system hold time was increased secondary to missed and skipped transmissions. Nothing wrong with ignoring NAC, don't know of that makes a difference.

As far as the filters go it is only the auto filters that slow down scanning. Filters are very important for some people in picking up simulcast systems properly without clipping or missing transmissions. Also very valuable in picking up VHF and UHF properly. Normal filter is on every object by default unless you turn off normal in global settings. It depends on what you listen to and how accurately you know how to apply filters. If all filters are off you are definitely going to notice a compromise in performance as we did before filters were added later on in a firmware update.

It's very important to make sure that you are listening to the least amount of sites on a system, doesn't matter how many talk groups you're listening to but it does matter how many conventional objects you are rolling through also.
