Hey folks. Owned a BCD325P2 for awhile now and I am experiencing a noise between voice transmissions on one of my programmed VHF P25 systems (Ontario Fleetnet). My GRE's dont experience this so Im wondering if there is a setting on my Uniden that can be adjusted to get rid of this annoying sound. Any tips are appreciated. Thanks.

what do you mean "no setting" ?
push the function button and then push down on the top knob.
the squelch setting will show at the bottom of the screen.

Squelch is set at 2. The sound is similar to what a control channel sounds like, if that helps.
It sounds as if it starts in analog mode and then switch to digital when it has decoded the data properly. There's P25 Waiting Time you can set. Try and increase that time until you no longer hear the data noise.

You can also check if the channel have its audio type set to All that allows it to monitor both analog and digital TG's. If you only have digital TG's then set that to Digital Only and you will get rid of any analog audio noise bursts.

If you have set a Priority mode it might check another channel each time the scanner goes back to the control channel. It will say PRI on the display if you have a priority setting enabled.

I have the site set on Digital only. I will try to increase the waiting time to see if that helps. I have nothing on priority. Thanks for all the replies, much appreciated.

Waiting Time only applies to channel set to All and not when set to Digital or Analog. It should never switch to analog mode, where you can hear the control data audio, if you have the channel set to digital mode. But maybe it's a bug and that timer will help resolve it.

i had an idea, but it was wrong.
i thought status bit might help, nope.
i thought there was a setting that the radio picked up the 'disconnect bit' and went back to scanning..

its not a status bit issue. This sounds like the squelch is set too low. Try adjusting the squelch to 5 or so for test purposes. If the squelch tail remains then it has to be a different issue or setting. Verify that another analog VHF CSQ frequency properly squelches to eliminate a hardware failure.

Fleetnet EMS is analog.

I have the site set on Digital only.

The control channel is analog as well.

On the system, set the End Code for analog+digital... Might help. I get the squelch tail noises all the time on my 996t's, but don't seem to get it so much on the newer scanners. Don't think I ever had that problem much on my 325.

I had the end code set to analog and digital. Didnt make a difference.
I turned the squelch up to 4 from 2 and it seems to have settled it down a bit, still getting the odd noise after some transmissions.
I will leave it for now and see how it does.
Thanks for all of the replies, much appreciated.

Could you do a recording with your mobile, with the squelch at 2, and post? If the squelch setting helped it sounds as if it's not detecting the end code at all and just waits for the squelch to close and then goes to the control channel. What happens if you make a hold on that site and then set squelch to 0? Will it stay on the voice channel with just noise from the speaker? Then for sure there's no end tone detection, or it is not sent out on that voice channel.
