St. Louis County going digital?

I know STL County is making radio changes, but I haven't been following it. Is there any serious plan to change to digital? I was going to buy a scanner for Christmas for someone in the county and I don't want to get them one that will be out of date in a few months, but I'd like to avoid dropping the money on a digital if they won't need it.

Re Saint Louis County

By mid 2nd qtr 2012 Saint Louis County will be on a 800mhz P25 trunked system.. So I would go with a digital scanner.
