Hi,

Sometime in the not far off past, possibly around the time the database started seeing many changes for the Home Patrol, some information for some municipalities in St. Louis County has gone missing, poof, vanished.

The towns (municipalities) of Chesterfield, Ellisville, Eureka, Wildwood and maybe others that I'm forgetting, are all dispatched by the St. Louis County Police Department on the Precinct 5 channel. This channel is also more commonly known as Muni-West with a frequency of 154.8750. It also uses a PL of 103.5

The channel is correctly listed under the St. Louis County Police section but it is missing completely from the towns I listed above.

So say I just moved into this area into Chesterfield. I see police cars marked with the city name. Then I discover RR and decide to by myself a nice new scanner. Low and behold, the City of Chesterfield only has a listing for the public works department! There is no mention at all about the police department. That same holds true for the other towns listed above.

My point here is, prior to the database changes for the HP-1, there were listings for the police frequency within each municipalities listing. These listings are now gone. If the actual frequency was not listed, then there was a note stating the fact that the police were dispatched by the St. Louis County Police Dept on the Muni-West channel. I do believe they all had actual database listings though.

If you read the county police wiki, there is mention of a west county or muni-west but only Wildwood is mentioned. Ellisville, Chesterfield and Wildwood have gone missing completely. I think the wiki needs updating to reflect this info as well.

If I were new to scanners and wanted to listen to one of the muni's police dept. listed above, I'd never be able to find the info I need as this info is now gone.

An HP-1 user will hear their cities but only under the County Police heading as that is the only place the frequency shows up in the Sentinel database. Those users would likely have no idea they are actually listening to their local police due to it no longer being listed under the actual muni's listing.

Most cities in the RR database that are dispatched by others have a description listing like "DB: St. Louis Cnty Police Muni-West 154.8750" or something close to that. I believe this is how they were listed prior to the info vanishing. This would at least let users know where to look for their cities police info.

I think this info needs to get back into the database so users with the HP-1 will get it into their radios correctly via Sentinel. I suspect many HP-1 users would likely never visit the RR site and hence never see the info if it is just notes under the muni listing and not an actual database entry.

Also, somewhere maybe in the st. louis county wiki there was a note on the Muni-West channel's usage. It contained car numbering details for sure but I do not recall what else it contained. This info may have been in the notes section under each muni’s listing instead of the wiki. I am foggy on this but I know it was there at one time somewhere.
For example, Chesterfield cars are dispatched as "5charlesXX" where 5 is the precinct and XX is the car number. The phonetic between the precinct number and the car number designates the muni. Wildwood and Ellisville and Eureka also had a phonetic designator that I do not recall. Chesterfield units use the "charles" designator. Another is “boston” but I do not recall which muni uses that.

Here is an example of how the missing info was listed.
If you look under the Municipalities of Jennings and Normandy, you will see how they are listed. They are both dispatched by the county police but on a channel known as Muni-North. These two examples are how the cities I listed early on used to be listed.

Why this info went missing is a mystery. I do not recall any database updates or changes in the logs that showed the removal or any changes to the county page or for the individual muni's. It just vanished.

I have PM’d the states database admin, starcom21 (Terry) the other evening but no response. Perhaps he is out of town for the holidays or something.

Anyway, can someone look into this and see if the missing info can be pulled back in from some archives or backups? I have no idea what else may have gone missing since the HP-1 updates started occurring or if it even was related to the HP-1 updates but I suspect it may have occurred during a HP-1 related database change for the county.

I only noticed this accidently when a person at work told me he had been monitoring Ellisville, MO and was getting a really good signal where he lives. Myself, knowing Ellisville was dispatched by the county on the muni-west channel, decided to look as this person should not have been getting a good signal where he lives. I figured maybe Ellisville had installed their own radio system or something. It was then that I found they no longer had a police listing at all! I then checked the other muni's I know are dispatched by the Muni-West channel and they also were stripped of any police info.

They did, at one time, all have actual database entries after looking in my BCD996XT as it has a downloaded listing showing individual entries for the muni’s like Chesterfield and the others I listed. It also correctly contains the channel under the county police system listing as it should. If I were to update my 996XT today, all those entries would be gone

Can anyone fix this please?

Thanks!
