Watching Stafford Board of Supervisors tonight. They are getting a briefing on a proposed Motorola 700 Mhz trunk system with implementation in approx 2-3 years. Need to upgrade my Pro 2096.

Also discussing interim fix to upgrade simulcast of current 480-490 Mhz system with upgrade in 30-60 days.

Thanks for the tip. I did a little research on Stafford's website, and found a PDF of the agenda item about the 700 MHz radio system:

http://co.stafford.va.us/bos/aug2107/38.pdf

Looks like the system will have ten channels, and thirteen transmit sites.

As for the simulcast issue, I assume this means they're going to make the current 480/490 MHz system act like a "real" simulcast system...? As it is now, sometimes one transmission will be strong, and the very next quite weak. It's as if one tower is being used for the first transmission, and another (more distant one) for the second.

I've been receiving the Sheriff's Office primary repeater (489.8375) much more consistently the past few days. It looks like they may have completed their "simulcast upgrade."
