STARS in Grande Prairie... STARS had a call the other day and landed behind me, there was no tone-out or any communications. Rumor has it that their Repeater is down for maintenance and is not scheduled to be brought back in service.
There has been no activity for close to a month now, so there's another one gone to AFRRCS encrypted system.

Any other news from the rest of the provincial bases?

I also have noticed the STARS channel in Grande Prairie down and I have not heard it in some time. Wish it wasn't so but it is what it is!

I knew this day was coming. I guess AFRRCS is working well for them and they don't need back up. STARS in Edmonton is still on UHF today. In fact, I heard STAR 6 on it going to Slave Lake. Not sure about Calgary. Talk Group 918 is Ground 3 but yes, encrypted.

I had speculated that STARS appreciates the news coverage given after the media hears the dispatch but again just a guess.
