I hve been hearing increased police traffic on the new FD channel today (and perhaps the last few days). This evening, I heard a BOLO for vehicle wanted in a shooting. Now why would Clarke be rebroadcasting on the FD channels I wondered. A few minutes later, a VSP trooper was calling for his dispatcher, in Chesapeake.

I checked the input freq for the P25 channel in Clarke, 151.1675. I then went to the STARs database page here on RR & found the same freq listed twice as an output freq. One location in South Hill (east of Danville), the other in Burgress (at the mouth of the Potomac).

Since Clark is repeating transmissions from the P25 channel onto the analog freq, anybody with a regular scanner can hear these transmissions.

Wonder how long we get to listen to STARS from the southside?

You may or may not be aware that Clarke County has been in the process of installing
a new radio system and dispatch center. They are now using a new Motorola Gold
Elite dispatch console system. The new console system has the ability of patching
different channels available onto other frequencies that are in the console.

Clarke County also has a RIOS gateway system from Sytech Corp that can be used
to make patches between different connected radios. They may also be using the
RIOS gateway for training and practice. Hard to say at this point just which way
they are making the connection. It is also anyones guess how long you will
hear the state police coming out on the fire frequency. My bet is the fire chief
will have some comments if and when it becomes an issue.
