Maybe the State Police should look into who's behind this BS:

Hey Michigan kids, your state reps. have a present for you (I-POD's)
http://news.com.com/2061-10801_3-6174170.html

I think the people behind this should be fired, if not put in prison, for wanting to spend $38,000,000.00 of our tax dollars for this crap!

Then you have the teacher in Grosse Pte that's having the school replace chalk boards with wide-screen plasma TV's in every class room to the tune of $6,000 per room! Good God what is wrong with these people?

I know someone who created a grant for her to have those warts removed! Since the layoffs are averted for now, does that mean the two posts will not close?

I'd a grant to remove her from the State.

No idea on the closing of posts yet.

I have to say first off I support the officers jobs and mileage, or the change in the vehicles lease vs purchase first off....
Secondly I work in Education, so I have to support my own job function but the Ipod for the children of MI, are you kidding me? please tell me this was some April 1st joke? I support many of the grants that go out to further education or bring technology to those that need it, but the Ipod's for all is WAY extreme. I might need to look up some rep's and sen's email addresses. This I feel is almost as bad as the one that wanted to change Lansing's Michigan Ave. to Avenue of Michigan.......

N211CR I work with education, well I'm part of the MEA/NEA/ESP union but i'm not a teacher.

I don't support the IPOD thing that the Democrats proposed. I also don't support the Democratic cut of $234 per student becuase it will kill the schools. Hell I remember just a month ago when the republicans proposed a cut of just a measley $34 per student to save troopers jobs.

Lets see $34 compared to $234 hmmmmmmm $200 more of a cut by the dems whom "support" education.

As a lowly state employee... who has been cut back to 1, 4 hour day a week..

our fisheries crew has been cut back from 5 short term workers to 1/2 (thats one half of a worker). not to mention the 25% cutback in vehicle usage (that goes for boats too)... BUT, there is a new, mandatory survey for this year that they just gave us

the summer parks crew has been cut back too. heck, we cant buy parts to fix equipment that we need to do the summer jobs.

and some kid is being given ipods????

WTF, over.

and our union thought that DeVos was the "greater of two evils" because by now, half the state jobs would be privatized.

and its only gonna get worse before it gets better!!!!! I can feel furlough days and working 40 getting paid for 36, and those 4 hours get put into a bank for later or retirement.

Paul that sounds like the old days in Detroit when the city forced DPD and DFD to take Coleman Days. They had to work an entire 8 hour shift for FREE (No Money).

My boss was pissed when they forced them to do that but they either had to do it and eat it or quit.

Its a bad situation.
