Listening to MA State Police this morning and wildcard keeps popping up with 33392 on the MA State Police trunk, Metro Boston Site. Any Idea. can't find it on radio reference or SNE.

Edit to Original Post. Site is Boston (Suffolk) not METRO Boston Simulcast.

F-Patrol-1 at Logan. At least that's what it was in the past, but I don't know if it's still accurate.

Correct this is what might be considered the Detail channel, for troopers not assigned to Logan Airport and do not have an Assigned Massport Radio

It's a bit of an oddity because it doesn't follow the divide/multiply by 16 "rule." I think that's because it's a holdover from the old analog MassPort trunk. As I recall, MassPort changed the TG for the P25 F-Patrol-1.

Bill, do you hear both 33392 and 1072 on Zone 1? I seem to remember hearing both on Zone 1, but only 1072 on Zone 5. I'm not in town all that much anymore, so I don't know what the current situation is.

To make it even more confusing, I seem to remember hearing TG67 on the Boston 700Mhz Overlay campus as well. I think I'll plug that into my SDR set up and see what pops up over the next couple of days.

Two different F-PTL-1's have been in user for many years

MSP F-PTL-1 33392 (Analog) - as stated, generally used by the Troopers on Detail, who are NOT assigned on a F/T basis to FHQ
Massport F-PTL-1 67 (Digital) - this is part of the Massport TG's on the CoMIRS Core and used by Troopers assigned to FHQ F/T

Still a weird way to do it, but I guess it makes sense to them. ;)

it is not weird, and has been this way from the days of Massport having it's own stand alone TRS

MSP had a TG to support the guys on detail, vs them having to sign out a Massport Portable and return it at the end of the detail
or worse having to program the MSP Radio onto the Massport TRS

Now with Massport being on the CoMIRS Core/Network they might eliminate it, or might not, since it is atleast a Zone 5 TG vs being solely on the Massport and 700 overlay sites [covers use at Hanscom]
