You have got to be joking! I cannot imagine the pandora's box that would open. I especially like the last quote, "I've been trained in anti-terrorist driving..." (How is that relevant?) "I'm very cautious and I don't take risks that would put anybody in danger". (By it's very nature running with lights and sirens is a risk and puts people in danger. If he doesnt take risks and won't put anyone in danger then drive the speed limit). Obviously just my opinion.

HAHA, I just saw that truck a few days ago parked in front of thier house. I thought it was the (actual) K-9 Police unit for Warren. No Joke.
Next there gonna be asking to be able to use Purple lights for the animal herse too.

If approved, they would have to have some sort of rules on what is considered an "Animal Emergency". Not every call to 911 requires full lights and sirens, to the scene or to the hospital. They would probably abuse that, and run code when not needed.

I like his knee pads.

My favorite part was either the ambulance-esque backwards writing on the hood of the truck or the fact that it's labeled "CHIEF VEHICLE."

It's a toss-up.

Absolutely ridiculous. We don't run 'hot' even when dispatched that way, unless conditions are favorable. This whacker shouldn't even be able to use his lightbar while in motion, there is NEVER a time when an animals life is that important and I am a big time fan of animals (particularily mine).
The state should mandate a minimum 3 million dollar insurance policy, and yearly passing of a emergency driving course. Short of that, welcome to the slow lane Bud.

Unreal.. I just can't believe some people...

I think this is absolutely ridiculus!!!! I understand that people love their pets, but this is taking things way too far, it is NEVER acceptable to put the safety of some dog or cat over the dangers of running lights and speeding around town. I hope the legislation is never approved!

Many Americans give their pets gourmet food while other humans in the world can't eat enough to keep their bodies from eating themselves to death. No, I'm not going to yield my vehicle to someone's sick dog! This is stupid...

I find it interesting that this couple is considered a "charitable organization". I wonder what that's about? Two wanna-bees (you guy's call 'em whackers) that are keeping a animal ambulance in the driveway of their home are considered a legal charitable organization. I'm curious where they get their charitable contributions from. Or is this a situation where he is contributing to himself, and the cost of the vehicle, light bars, gas, food for him and his wife, etc, are tax deductible. I wonder if the house is a write off because he keeps the ambulance in the driveway.
I agree with all those who say that a sick animal is not a "code red" emergency.

"The Michigan Vehicle Code does allow the Knapps to operate their SUV with flashers but no sirens, because they are considered a nonprofit charitable organization that assists during emergencies"

Not sure what using the flashers alone does for them. In order to be granted and privilege while driving they need lights and siren (except for police in specific instances). Lights alone will only cause confusion and if an accident does occur leave the "ambulance" at fault. Can only hope that our legislature does not get really stupid (too much to hope I know).

In addition to the above comments by Thunderbolt, don't abuse the reporting system. In other words don't attack your attacker and then 5 hours later, file a complaint; your initial response has also been deleted.
