Re AE1256: Unknown here too. What's amazing though is you had him at 1945 and an SBS user in Ontario logged him at 1948 (same time zone). Was the aircraft halfway between the two of you and you both had a good long shot? He's just across the New York/Canada border. Something feels wrong there.
That aircraft was logged at Nellis earlier in the day.
.

I do log civilian aircraft sometimes well up and over NY/PA border every day so
not too surprising. One of my strong zones.Yet Dover 50 miles away I miss
inbounds from South and East.
Box works best in areas with no city clutter. Pocono Mountains North come in
great.Balt,Wash,Philly lousy below 12k.

Looks like Rocket launch of some type Monday morning from Kennedy Space Center.

One of McGuire's favorite Western long distance tails the past couple months, also as CABAL,RUMMY,WOODN.
Departed west 5 days ago as HOIST 95.

Slow day at Patterson:

HKB210 (H25B) - from KICT; to KICT
VADER 08 (C-130H, 89-9108) - aeromed training
MAD HOG xx (A-10A+, unid) - only heard the departure
VADER 02 (C-130H, 89-9102) - aeromed training, RON
TBOLT 54 (unid) - called Metro for weather for KNTU 0030Z

I'm guessing that last one is probably an F/A-18C; can anybody confirm?

EVAC 33116, along with most of the MS-ANG C-17s, run those missions at least as far as Ramstein. One or more of them is reported just about daily on the ground there. If they go beyond that point, no one in the SBS net is logging them so it looks like that's it for them.
FWIW I had EVAC 3116 wkg 378.100 GRIFFIN CP Friday afternoon - inbnd to drop off some litter and ambulatory cases [with attendents] and thru-load the rest. About the only time I can hear any traffic to GRIFFIN is when this C-17 chks in, which he seems to do earlier than most ...... or he's got a great transmitter.

Re: 84-0207

Hi Tin,

Maybe my misunderstanding of what SBS can do - along with logging all the aircraft, I was thinking that you could also "log" and "play back" flight tracks? ?

Thanks,

Tony

I have no idea. Wasn't listening for it.

Tony, the log/database kept by the SBS unit only gives you certain information. For instance, it logs the start/end times the aircraft was detected, along with first and last altitudes, any callsign displayed, the aircraft type and any Mode-3 squawk codes displayed during the detect time. If the aircraft had ADS-B turned on to provide radar tracking - which 99.9% of military aircraft do NOT use - the record would include first and last detected position coordinates, speeds and headings along with the other info. Bottom line is that I could provide the direction of flight only if the aircraft was using ADS-B during the time it was detected by the system since first/last coordinates would be logged. Hence, for military aircraft, other than for a very few aircraft that use ADS-B (E-6B, C-32B, a few Andrews 89th AW types occasionally and a couple of little Army transports), that type info you requested is just not available ---- yet.

There is a ramp freeze at Andrews for something. 15 AUG 18:45 2009 UNTIL 15 AUG 19:15Z
SAM-5484 flight has been holding for 30 minutes and is getting low on fuel. On the MPD Special Ops Div channel I can hear an escort working it's way through the city, not sure if it's related.
SAM-5484 will try to get a waiver.

1528- The escort has now arrived at its destination.

Had an Egyptian poobah land at Andrews at 1442. It was with Andrews Tower on 118.4 for landing runway 19R. His callsign was Egyption 01 and was displaying EGY01 on Mode-S. Registration was SU-GGG, an A342 belonging to the Egyptian Government according to Airframes. He used full ADS-B on his flight so could follow him right to ADW. Lost the signal at 1725 feet which indicates a weak Mode-S transmitter. On that runway, I usually can track them down to 800-1000 feet. Pilot had almost no trace of an accent. Hex code was 010024.
According to news reports, Hosni Mubarak, the Egyptian president is supposed to arrive here Monday. So...was this him arriving early or the advance team? If the advance team, why would they have a ramp freeze in place for it?

Travis, I've been logging that S5484 since 1415. (C-20B, 86-0202, 99th AS Andrews).

Had an unknown landing within the past hour: no call ahead, one communication with tower (callsign was cut off, but the last digit might have been 4) - I'd put my money on an E-4B. Was there one logged on the SBS net this evening?

Navy 100

Guys,

AE151A 166377 VV100 11:16:49.895 C-37B VR-1

Seeing this guy alot always using the Navy 100 callsign. Wonder if this is the acft used by SevNav or Chief NAVOPS. Similar to Marine 101 which is used by USMC Commandant.

Need some help with four IDs for this morning:

RIDER 31 (unid) - actually arrived last night, I just didn't hear it
CARMEN 4 (unid) - departing Springfield ANGB, direct APE
MARINE 817 (unid) - haven't heard it depart yet
MAUL 44 (unid) - did two approaches before departing, sounded like two pilots (one with a mask, one without), cleared TRIVO-CVG-PXV then as filed, using VHF

VADER 02 (C-130H, 89-9102) - arrived and departed

Just caught tracking with full ADS-B on sbs was .....

01-0028 C-37A with Spar28 in the c/s block.

Track shows a departure from the former Otis ANGB to the SW.
My record shows arrival around 1635

Well, if you're sure they were bombers, there are only three options: B-1, B-2, and B-52. Rule out the B-2, because (1) they usually fly alone and (2) wouldn't land anywhere but Whiteman. If I had to take a guess, I'd say it was a flight of B-1s; they fly together fairly often.

Still looking for any info on my logs from earlier today, and add one: REACH 151 (C-5A) - should be 445th AW, but I need a tail.

VHF Prop

Guys,

VHF propagation is very good this morning. Picking up ground side of PTC (118.95;119.85;119.3;125.65;128.35) all quite clear & readable. Will disappear soon but nice to hear while it's around.

0812 EDT--Just picked up ground side L/C of 254.3 ZDC Coyle--a first for me

0823- Also picking up ground side of an approach/departure/center on 354.0---new one for me. Id's self as ZNY...Accoding to my list it's BARNEGAT RCAG 354.00000 HIGH DISCRETE --WOW !!!! Good conditions

0900 EDT--most of the ground sides have gone away---but it was fun while it lasted.
