I don't know who uses that callsign at Pax. And, yes, the FFAB123 is just gibberish. I was thinking at first it was a MD-ArNG helo but apparently not. Something out of Pax apparently..

Taking a cue from Hop checked Airnav and looks like H60P-Pavehawk? chopper
Sikorsky callsign is "PANAIR".

Checking old logs Alan you had back on Aug 20 with callsign.
AE1DBB ------ FFAB123 16:22:17.046
Odd Army callsign.. test bird or just random mode jibberish.
Mark

FWIW i have AE1DD0 in my d/b also having had FFAB123 in the c/s box
undoubtedly todays AE1DBB and AE1DD6 were connected.

Hey...even F/A-18s have to land. Actually, Mark, I'm not sure how that hex got to be an F/A-18 other than others are in that same hex range. Excellent catch on the 831 though heading into Phillps. I wonder if Ron has that chopper in his database? Ron?

Tin,
Mark,

I don't have 831 in my list---maybe from out of state PA or DE?

I don't know who uses that callsign at Pax. And, yes, the FFAB123 is just gibberish. I was thinking at first it was a MD-ArNG helo but apparently not. Something out of Pax apparently.

Travis, I've got AE0046 as a T-38C with possible tail 67-14851. It was one of two T-38s that went into McChord but the guy logging wasn't sure which of the two T-38s it was.
AE083F was last noted being used by a KC-135E heading to AMARC 17 July. It came in from the west today. Guess it didn't like the desert weather.

Guys,

Pioneer is callsign used by the helos in VSX-1 at PAX.

Thanks Ron. That callsign sounded familiar to me but I just couldn't remember who it belonged to and it isn't in any of the saved callsign lists I have nor on the many freq lists I've got for Pax from various people over the years. Anyway, that gives us almost a full ID for it now.

Getting a lot of activity on AR631 295.8 (AAR track over NH and VT). Considering that a good portion of the tankers supporting the Sunfish CAP have been from NH-ANG, it's possible the activity on AR631 is related.
Possibly you heard PACK 11 working with RODD 99 who began a little after 1000L.

here comes Zombi22 58-0084 KC-135T Pa/ANG on the screen
Harass43 sending 44 to do a boom check as soon as 22 arrives,

1957
Zombi21 on 128.75 repating back her clearance......long clearance, no pen, thought i could remember it, no chance.......HTM, CAM, on and on and on.............back to Scott Illinois i guess.
I like it when the tankers come from outside of New England ..... I can actually hear them ;)

ZOMBIE 22 was doing radio chks on 228.900 and 364.200 with HUNTRESS before finally settling on 260.900.

ZOMBIE 21 gave her destination as BLV [Scott AFB] to ATC.

Also just for info a "Invader Jack" LJ-36 working out of Wiliamsburg and Pax River
this week.
Haven't logged a tail yet, maybe you guys down South can catch him on box.

Looking at it's flight history I certainly should have logged it midday on Monday. I couldn't find anything in my log that would match that time and altitude.

Anyone know the reg. or owner of a Lockheed JetStar that landed at Dulles this morning around 0800? Didn't show in my RB log.

Re: PIONEER 831

Guys,

A little late getting onto the Thread here as we've been treated all evening to the sight of a nice lineup of young punks busted by the FCPD right in front of the house. Evidently running from some kind of "kiddie" gang fight.

Just a wild guess but I'll throw out MH-60S c/n 701831 or 702831. Good luck getting a c/n to BuNo tieup (167831??) at this point!

Tony

0006: BLACKJACK 3 (HH-65 USCG) working w/HUNTRESS chasing down a TOI to start the latest version of the Falcon Virgo exercise...139.6
I believe HUNTRESS is transmitting from an antenna at BWI for this part of the exercise. He's extremely loud and clear - same signal strength as the other BWI transmitters. BLACKJACK 3 is fairly weak but completely readable from here.
I believe the target is CAP aircraft N636CP, C-182...currently flying at 2400 feet (per Mode-S but HUNTRESS calls it 2500 feet).
0013: BLACKJACK 3 has the target...describes it as high wing, single engine and will get the tail....however, HUNTRESS tells him the command is to "bug out" so BLACKJACK 3 breaks off the target...139.7
I've also got a C-40C, 02-0201 from the 201st AS at Andrews displaying BOXER 42 for a callsign. This might be part of the exercise too since they've used that aircraft in the past. He should be a target for F-16s though. It's flying at 12,000 feet.
0018: I'm no longer thinking the C-40 is part of this. He's with ZDC-Woodstown on 125.45 and is climbing to 16,000 feet and still going up....at FL 210 by 0021.
0019: HUNTRESS tells BLACKJACK to terminate and just continue to orbit in the area...a couple of minutes later tells BJ3 or orbit 200 for 10 miles...139.7
0027: HUNTRESS did a radio check with BLACKJACK 3 - both heard each other but HUNTRESS has changed antennas and was suddenly weak from here...139.7
0033: HUNTRESS transmitting but I can no longer understand him...just too weak....so is BLACKJACK 3 at this point since HUNTRESS moved him....139.7
0035: BOXER 42 still heading out...he's now at FL 350 where he's stopped the climb.
0036: HUNTRESS giving BLACKJACK 3 a new TOI to chase...signal is excellent again but there's a carrier on the freq blocking comms...139.7
I wonder if the carrier is being deliberately transmitted as part of the exercise?
0038: HUNTRESS transmitting in the blind since he can't get the helo...carrier stops, he gives the BRA of the target again and the carrier begins again....139.7
0039: HUNTRESS calls BLACKJACK 3 on backup freq since he can't get him on 139.7...260.9 (He's actually trying on both freqs)
0040: HUNTRESS has BJ3 switch to backup freq, he does and gets BRA to TOI...260.9 (HUNTRESS perfectly readable on new freq but not as strong as on the VHF...he's continuing to vector the helo to the target.)
0042: HUNTRESS tells BJ3 his mission is to get the tail number...260.9
0044: BJ 3 apparently gives the tail number (I can not hear BJ3 now) and HUNTRESS reads it back as N636CP (what a coincidence)...260.9
0045: BJ 3 back in radio range for me and repeats tail N636CP...260.9
0047: HUNTRESS tells BLACKJACK 3 to bug out south...then gives him 130 (course/speed?)...260.9

I don't know how many times they'll do this using the helo but it's getting old already. If the fighters came up it would be more interesting - and they may scramble later - but I've had enough and think it's time to crash so call this the end of the log.

Quick question, because I seem to have something labeled incorrectly.

260.9 is a Huntress freq right? Or am I missing something and have this wrong because some people think it is "Boston CAP Primary."

If they're talking about Civil Air Patrol then I can see that but, if they are talking about the Martha's Vineyard CAP then I have it right I believe.

(BTW, I got the label from Mass.Military - Scan New England Wiki)
