This weekend Enfield is useing STOCS for their 4th of July Celebration. But since I hear them on all the different freqs for STOCS what freq. are they actualy transmitting on? Or If they broadcast on one does it just rebroadcast on all STOCS?

i actually caught some use of one of the itac channels here in the new haven area last week prior to my 106 conking out on me. I was thinking maybe someone was getting a radio reprogrammed that may have missed the rebanding train?

STOCS works by crosspatching the various VHF-Hi, UHF, and 800 channels together. They work in simplex mode so input and output are the same. There are 3 VHF & UHF channels and 5 800 channels. (VHF/UHF 4 & 5 are duplicated from 2 & 3)

Just a clarification. You need special equipment to enact the cross patching of the VHF, UHF and 800 frequencies. It isn't always on; it's only on when someone turns it on.

Systems to accomplish this were distributed to towns across the state that they can bring to an incident. Also towns have installed similar systems into vehicles that would be at the location. Because STOCS is low power, the equipment needs to be close to where the radios are. In Enfield they probably had their Mobile Command Post vehicle that has that capability at the town celebration and that is how they accomplished that.
